Hi all not an owner - yet! Just got questions to ask ($$) etc

Hi all

Another Brit here.

Really enjoying the site, however do have a bunch of questions to ask since, as you might imagine, the Mach 1 isn't exactly common over here. In fact I think I'm correct in saying that there are only 5, or so, over here and all of them manual. Guess what I want.....

One of the issues I have is that prices seem to be all over the place, I'm not just talking about <5k mile ones being well north of $20k but even 80k ones being 50% apart in price (for apparently same condition). Is there a price 'bible' over there other than KBB, is KBB actually accurate?

The other major issue, I suspect, is that most private sellers would find an overseas purchaser too scary to deal with (not to mention my concern at handling over at large sum to a stranger..... ) so that leaves me looking at trade sellers only/predominantly. I guess that they are a mixed bunch too

Anywho wish me luck as I start my slow search (and as long as sterling doesn't tank again!), Please be patient with the dumb questions!

i think theres a problem with some owners valuing the cars way too high, especially when you're not talking a low mileage and practically mint car. Ive seen plenty of people asking clean terminator money for their Mach and unless they find just the right sucker it wont ever happen.

Yes, I would anticipate that the average private seller isn't going to be comfortable shipping it. Someone whos got a nicer collection and moving a few cars might be ok with it if you set up an escrow account so everyone is covered.

I would also want the car to be inspected by a neutral third party shop before shipping

Ebay may be a good bet along with an inspection.
