Oops..somebody forgot to send mother nature her mother days card.
Freakin' 15 hours without power and all heck breaking loose around central Ga. area. Straight line winds, a couple of tornados, hail, 2.5" of rain in an hour and complete chaos striking the idiots of Macon Ga. I had to go check on one our facilities this morning since it had damage and no power. The damage around the city from what I saw is like none I've ever seen in our town. I hope to get some pictures tomorrow. I'll have better access with the company vehicle. We were pretty muched locked down today.

I saw that line of storms earlier on the weather channel. They looked wicked.

I talked to my mom today, they live between Atlanta and Athens, and she said it was pretty nasty up there with the rain and hail. Hopefully the damage is not too bad and ya'll can get everything cleaned up and fixed quickly. I know what its like to be without power for a long period of time.

WOW! Glad to hear your OK. We had the same line of storms here in Virginia but no hail and did'nt lose power. Lots of wind and rain (5 inchs in my gauge). lots of limbs 1 about 10 inchs around crashed my fence to the ground. Schools closed cause of flooding. Mother nature has her way of leting us know who's the BOSS!

Re: Oops..somebody forgot to send mother nature her mother days card.
I took a tour today of our area. They claimed it was a couple of tornados, but the damage appears to be striaght line winds to me. There are areas where pine trees are just snapped off 25' up. This is some bad stuff. It will be weeks before all power is restored to some parts of the area.

Re: Oops..somebody forgot to send mother nature her mother days card.
****.....Sounds like central GA got pounded. I know there was one fatality in Dublin from a reported tornado. We got somewhat lucky in the SE part of the state. Darien got popped pretty good by a twister, plus there was multiple tornado warnings as the cells moved through. I actually watched one storm pass by and you could see the rotation in the outer bands.....think it was the one that spawned the Darien touchdown. I was glued to my laptop with two radar sites running.....if it looked like it was going to get too close, was ready to jump in the Mach and haul *** in the opposite direction. I heard about the large hail, so I was a nervous bish....lol.
Glad ya'll made it through.....mother nature was being a bish on mother's day. |

Re: Oops..somebody forgot to send mother nature her mother days card.
Sorry I missed this thread earlier Frankie and I'm glad you're okay. My in-laws in Alabama had their roof and carport torn off, their shed is now two houses over, and they lost every tree on their property (around 50 total across 2 acres) to a tornado early Sunday morning. Their home is a log house and they were told that if it was a traditional house it would have been flattened (and so would the in-laws). Very lucky....
