I just had to try some of that VooDoo stuff - maybe i'll give it to my granny - should be great for gas mileage. I just wish it was not $200 worth of VooDoo.

Will re-tune and try again Monday.

Those are some nice numbers Johnny. I was hoping you'd be around 350-360 but who knows after they tune it for ya. I got a dyno tune set up for mine the first week of may. So I will let ya know what I end up pulling. Anyways good luck on your tune.

Oh Yeah - very much so - LOL

If anybody ever wants the slightly technical reason why the Plasmas Booster showed a 14 HP loss - here it is in terms that should explain.

First let me re-state that there was a gain up to about 5700 but went away quick after that until it dropped 14 HP. The Plasma Booster multi sparks the coils. Problem is there is no more power being applied to the coils and by firing them rapidly the output voltage goes down with each firing because the coil does not have time to recover fully. Ironically the manufacturer even supplies a graph off of an O-Scope that shoes that multi spark is taking place, but it also shows that the spark is not as hot as the one without multispark. I have the plugs gapped at factory spec which is also a little tough on the dropping coil output. If you are going to multi spark in a high rpm setup then you better go with a system that increases power to the coils or has capacitive capabilities for each coil. That was about as clear as mud.

I do not doubt that it does what they say on a slightly or no mods vehicle up to a certain rpm. Probably great for gas mileage - maybe I'll put it on our 5.4 3V truck.

Yeah - I was hoping for exactly what you said. I am willing to assume a little hidden in the gear. I wish you luck with yours and I will report back Monday.

Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

Impressive gains for sure from those cams Can't wait to see how it goes after the tune on monday.

Did you ever dyno it before the cams? I'm really interested in seeing what losses there are in the lower and mid range. I'd consider the swap if it didn't involve losing all that low end grunt I love.

Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

Horrible day weather wise - but tune went as scheduled with 100% humidty.

New Numbers

347.39 Horsepower dark red on graph

343.15 Torque light red on graph

Horsepower curve is awesome - pulls all the way throught the rpm band.

Torque jumped by 40 since Saturday. Saturday's pull without retune was 338hp/303tq.

Remember when comparing - this is with a 4.56 gear - stock heads and valves - heads never been off car - stock intake and throttle body - no porting.

Dyno Printout

Air Fuel Printout

We are very pleased -

Thumbs up Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

Great numbers Johnny I'm happy for ya. Those are some pretty nice numbers you got yourself there. I'm sure your pretty happy. I know I am just chompin at the bit to get mine back together. I just bought a worked over intake from Orangeblast at the .ORG So I should be lookin pretty stout when all's said and done. I got my dyno tune setup for MAY 6th so i'm eagerly awaiting. One question though are you running the C&L 85mm setup or are you still using stocker for your maf?
Thanks,
Adam

Great numbers! I'm glad to see you got that thing tuned in now. I'm kinda suprised that you're peaking at around 6.2k. I would've thought you would hit your HP peak a little higher, say 6500. Either way, I can't wait for some new track times. Good luck.

Thanks - that rpm will climb once we port the intake or at least that what Ford told us. A comp valve job would help a lot as well, but we are not going into motor unless something breaks. I guess we will do a ported intake later in year.

Thanks again - good luck on yours and keep us informed. Yes, we have the C&L setup with the 85mm housing. We think that C&L setup did more for the money than just about any mod we have done. We do not dyno much, but we do try everything out at the track. If we do not get better ETs - we pull off non performing mods.

Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

Track had TnT last night and tonight. We tried, but track horrible after all day rain on Monday. Only reason we went tonight because they told us they were prepping for a big race starting Thursday. Bad thing was wind was 20 mph straight down the track gusting to 30 mph. Also - they did not prep like they told us they would. There was no headwind Tuesday night - track just sucked.

We have to give up on TnT giving us a good track and enter a race weekend so we can get a good surface. Only leaving at 5000 and not powershifting. Tried power shifting last night and spun all the way through second. They stopped TnT twice last night and once tonight (now get this) to vaccum water off the track that was seeping up through cracks. Here are the timeslips from last night and tonight. The 115 was not a fluke because we were spinning - have spun before and it never made more than .5 difference with this 4.56 gear. Still have only made 8 full passes with these cams - just need a good surface to find what she has got.

11.95 and 115 mph timeslips

Yeah - Right again Bill. The RPM shift points for these cams look like they'll be different than what ran best with stock cams. Tuesday night I wound third up higher than we used to shift at (6600 vs 6200) and I think that is where the 115 came from - was not the air for sure. Tricky thing now with unprepped track is 2nd gear - that large drop from 1st to 2nd is putting us right at max torque after the shift and you can feel it - tried to powershift Tuesday and I started laughing when I hit second - it felt like I was spraying that gear with all the wheel spin.

Any Ford Dealership that sells Ford Racing items or any speed shop that sells Ford Racing items. There is a Ford Racing web site, but they charge retail. You would get better price somewhere else. Jeg's could probably order - they are a FR dealer. 1-800-345-4545.

I've thought about these a lot since we bought them and cannot think of a better set of cams for the Mach motor. We do not race the car other than going to Test n Tune sessions to have fun. Ran 11.90 this past Tuesday night on unprepped track - 60 foot only 1.66 on that run. Cams also drive great - still have a lot of low end power as well as increased power up high. There are other N/A Machs in the 11s, but most are much lighter than our 3470 pounds.
