Any benefits using a SCT tuner on a stock Mach 1 ?

Any benefits using a SCT tuner on a stock 5 speed Mach 1 ? If so, who do you recommend getting the tuner from? Not really looking to modify the car, just seeing if it's worth the money.

It may feel a little peppier with the tuner on there as the factory tune is a little on the conservative side. As for where to get it i'm sure there's going to be multiple suggestions but in general American Muscle, Latemodel Restoration or Lethal performance are all good places to order from with great customer service.

I have also been debating on a tuner for my mostly stock mach. For the money I do not know if it is worth it.

Re: Any benefits using a SCT tuner on a stock Mach 1 ?

I have had one for years from AM with the Free Tunes for Life. Everytime I did a mod, they would send a new tune (no hassle, filled out a form and they would email tune), it paid for itself many times over because:

When I put an off road X, used it to turn off back 02 sensors
When I installed 4.10 gears, used it to adjust speedometer
Also can adjust speedometer for different tire size
I have used it MANY times as a DTC code reader (do that a coupla times so you don't have to go to dealer or shop and it pays for itself)
When I installed my P1, saved $300+ the shop was going to charge since you need one for the tune

I had 3 tunes with mine and there is ALOT of stuff you can do with it I haven't even touched on. I think for the price and just going by what you can do with it AND a little extra performance, IMO worth every penny.

if you have an auto youll see a lot more benefit from a tune on a mostly stock car than a 5spd car would, provided the tuner knows how to setup the transmission functions.

With the bama tunes through AM be sure to keep an ear out for pinging, seen quite a few complaints about it

I wouldn't bother with buying one if you're going to keep it absolutely bone stock. If you think you're even going to do 1 performance mod, then buy one because you'll end up doing at least afew mods.

This. But personally I'd do the bolt ons and then have the tune written using a dyno for everything at once.
