Yes, with hopefully 13.1 CR on a 4 valve motor, ported heads. The cams I selected will not take full advantage of top end hp N/A with these heads. However, it's an excellent cam for nitrous.

I will have to run 106+ octane fuel for the compression ratio N/A and higher octane, 110+ when injecting nitrous with the stand alone nitrous/fuel system.

Nice flow numbers Phil !
So you have to run 106 minimum ? If you were to run a Stand Alone System could you run 93 ? How Streetable w/o the standalone will she be ?

There is no pump gas for this motor N/A or nitrous!
No sh!t ! I guess your street driving will be limited . But if you did install a Stand Alone eng. mgmt. set-up could you run pump gas ????

How long until you are rolling ??

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

JE, has contacted Jeff Chambers about the pistons. During JE's computer generated flows of my heads/cams/pistons, we need to drop a full point in dome compression. Because the exhaust valves are being over shrouded by a 13.1 piston dome, this would diminish exhaust flow during the exhaust stroke. Anything over 12.1 domed piston on a factory head & small bore will hurt performance with this modular head design. If I was going with a big bore/stroker kit, then 13.1 could be achieved without shrouding the exhaust valves.

So, CR will be around 11.9-12:1 instead of 13:1...

So does that mean you could run it on 100 Octane maybe ?

Sh!t at this point id put that BB/S kit in her . You have done just about everything else !

I have to run at least 104 octane at 12.1 N/A..

I already paid for having my block/crank/rods blue printed at Victory Engines. The JE pistons are already machined to the bore size of the finished block. The final dome configuration is now being CNC machined.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

Tammy Chambers took these pics for me of the pistons. Not my purse or hand cream, LOL!

This is a one of a kind J.E. custom 12:1 nitrous piston for a factory bore 4.6l mod motor. The top ring lands are .275" thick. The pic of the underside shows how beefy the piston pin bosses are. They have been shipped to Polydyne coatings in Houston, TX.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

These pistons would net a higher compression ratio over 12:1 if my cylinder heads were at factory 53-54cc combustion chambers. After the heads were ported, the compression bump in the chambers are removed along with the valve grind slightly sinking the valves in the seats. My true chamber volume cc'd by Fox Lake is now 57cc.

However, due to exhaust flow restriction trying to acheive 13:1 CR with a factory bore, I was forced to go with 12:1 which proved to be optimum performance flow at top end rpm's. Shrouding of the exhaust valves becomes a problem starting slightly higher then 12:1.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

I had avoided this thread until today because I'm down to one week to make a final decision on my hot rod's induction system.

I've got several configurations figured out down to the last zip tie and have a range from $3200 to $8100.

None of the above configurations use a carb intake with an EFI system. I don't know why I didn't look at that but it would be cheaper than many of the other options. I want to stick with the COP's and that adds tons of money to the ECU or adds the MSD ignition controller.

I might run the numbers on some of these options with and without the COP's. I can save enough by not running the COP's to pay for the Sullivan covers and wires.

Thanks for posting all this guys.

I originally was going to keep the COP's and I purchase an MSD Mod 6 ignition controller/complete harness kit.

I recently sold that for $425 shipped new in the box. They cost about $495 or slightly more. I decided to go with the MMR/MSD distributor setup. I can run a much hotter amperage spark under extreme nitrous conditions with 12:1CR, utilizing an MSD7A capacitive discharge ignition up to 8000 rpms.

let us know what setup you go with G..!!

That top ring being down that far is great if you're going to spray it hard.

Its a bad azz piston and it only weighs 348 grams. The rings had to be narrowed up to get that much top land. Their 1.0mm 1.2mm, and 2.8mm.
