275 40 17 on a asf 10.5 wheel ?

I don't race my Mach it's an everyday driver.
so I don't need a wider on the rear
But who dose't like there car to look good?
I would like to have a wider tire on the rear.
But I don't want anything sticking out

So I'm looking at 10.5 wheels at ASF and was wondering would a
275 40 17 work ok on the 10.5 wheel?

The section width is on a 275 is 10.5 - (So the tread width would a little less)
And it stands 25.66" tall

Would this tire fit ok on this rim?

You guys let me know if I'm being a pest about tire and wheel stuff
and I will leave you a lone

9" or 9.5" would be better, but it is approved for a 10" wide rim.

I just did 275/40-17 on all four of my 17x9's
I would not put it on a 10.5.
Here is what i've learned, don't want to stretch the tire out, you want it to have a little roll. by putting the 275 on even a 10" you maybe stretching the tire outwards and it will cause stress on the seal.
I would say, save your money and get the correct size tire, do not cut corners. For sure not with tires.
If budget is an issue, you might be able to find some used tires that you could throw on the 10.5.

I ran 275/40-17's on my stock Mach 1 rear rims for years with zero issues. Even autocrossed and ran Pocono with that setup. Here's a pix with the tires on my stock rear rims...

i'd say throw 1/2" hubcentric spacers on the back axle too, but you would have to change to longer studs which is kind-of a PITA.

There are bolt on hub-centered spacers out there that wouldn't be an issue with the stock studs, you just have to make sure that the wheels you use have a hollowed out area (I believe the stock wheels have this) for the studs to fall in to so that the wheels aren't riding on the top of the studs. I did this on e Terminator, but you have to on those because the wider tires (315s) hit on the IRS mounting bolts.

Do i need spacers so it doesn't rub on the inside.?

Is that with a 8" rim?
OK It looks like I can run a 245 40 17 on a stock 8"

And if I want the 10.5 wheels from AfS I then could run a 315 40 17

If I run the 315s do need to run spacers? Is there something on the inside that would rub?
Or put on the 315s and no worries?

You shouldn't need spacers. The Cobra runs a different rear suspension that has hardware that interferes. The solid axle cars like the Mach 1 doesn't have those issues.
Factory tires were 245/45 r17 with the stock 8" wheels. 275s do work on the factory size wheels.
