He was ok. The first time I saw him and Andrew Dice Clay was on an HBO special back in 1986. I laughed my azz off. Nobody ever did that kind of comedy before. After that, the routines they did got old real fast.

I think they both got there debut's on Dangerfield's they were the HBO comedy specials and eventually had there own hour long HBO shows. Loved both of them. I think Sam hit the wall when he was trying to be a musician instead of tell jokes. I saw Diceman in the early 1990's at Radio City music hall and that was towards the end of his stadium filling career. Can't deny they were both good and its tough for any comedian to continue to evolve and stay relevant. Even though they may have filled stadiums they weren't a pimple on Don Rickles azz. May he rest in peace as well.
