Motorcraft coil boot

Has anyone just changed the coil boots. Ford shows replacement boots just not sure if they come with a new spring inside. I just changed my plugs I was experiencing a miss, I noticed moisture on some of the boots so I blew them off with air. Took out for ride it's definitely got a little better. But the miss is still there at 5k. Also feels like they just slip on like the spring is not clicking into the plugs.

Re: Motorcraft coil boot

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but did you blow the spark plug holes out as well? Water gets in under the coil cover and gets down into the spark plug holes in the valve covers, causing a misfire. I've had this issue with mine and it goes away after thoroughly blowing out all of the water down in the spark plug holes. I haven't replaced my boots, but may in the future as a couple have a bit of rust from the water getting down there.

That's a good point I changed plugs they looked dry there was a little rust on the porcelain of maybe 2 plugs. And some moisture on a couple of boots. Are you guys using a dab of Die electric grease on boot. And this was all on the passenger side. I might pull plugs and start over blow all holes and put the new boots on

After ordering them from one ford dealer they told me the springs was included. So I ordered them did a little more research and of course they do not come with spring you have to buy a new coil for that. Advance auto sell a Autolite premium boot with spring and 5 year warranty I might return the fords and buy them. They look more complete

Re: Motorcraft coil boot

Like stated water creeps in the coil covers where the wire comes in the back of the cover. Make sure to seal up the grommet with RTV otherwise you can get moisture and possible misfire .
