Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

I have been a Ford fan since the age of 13, still love the Mach. But I don't get why they would use that name out of all the names they could draw from. I have a novel concept, how about coming up with something new. Dropping the North American Fiesta soon instead of fixing some issues with the tranny. Next generation Focus to be made in China, more interested in pleasing stock holders than loyal fans. Pricing the Mustang way out of the affordable range for the average Joe or Josephine. Makes it hard to stay a loyal Fan when we care more about doing the right thing than they do!

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

I have loved the mach1 ever since I saw photos of a 69 as a kid. a guy I went to HS was lucky enough to be allowed to drive his dads every day and he let me take it around the school parking lot once when I was 17.

When I got a "real" job in 2007 I bought myself a VERY light used 2003 Black 5spd Mach1, also my first Mustang, and loved every moment of it until it was unfortunately wrecked in a rainstorm taking me home from a client in DC. It still managed to limp me home just south of Philly. A few days later it was declared totalled.

At first I was VERY happy to see the MAch1 logo, but then took in what teh video meant, and the messages from Ford, and now have very little hope for the next Mach1 being anything that I'd have any interest in.

I'd love to say that my next car would be a Mach1 as well, this is making me feel like in the future when I see the Mach1 badge I'm just going to sign and know what it USED to mean, and what it used to mean to me.

I consider myself lucky to have had a Mach1 when the name still meant something.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

The reason the 2001 Bullitt worked is because it was today's version of a classic icon. Same thing for the 2003 Mach 1. Same thing for the GT500 when it came back. This isn't rocket science. People love remembering the good ol' days through their set of wheels.

The bonehead who even thought that using the Mach 1 name on a hybrid SUV would be a good idea should be fired because A) it's blasphemy and B) they obviously failed business and marketing in college.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

I sold my mach this past summer, my Focus ST has suffered a major failure just over 100,000 miles... I've always been a ford guy but i think those days are gone. They've just dropped the ball a lot in the last 10 years. Next for me is a project pickup most likely with a 5.3L build.

Levine is sending out prefab'd responses on Twitter to everyone who complains about it. So hopefully they're listening, but I don't know that they are.

Dodge seems to be the only company out there who still gets it. They're listening to what their customers want and they're building it and as a result they've got cars that have been on the market for 10 years that are still doing record sales.

It’s like Dodge putting the charger name on a 4 door or the dart name on a fwd car. It shouldn’t have happened but it did. If they names hybrid SUV Mach 1 then so be it. It’ll be an idiotic decision but if they do it then whatever. If it’s a hybrid mustang then at least the name is staying on the platform it was meant for.

Pick your poison.

The person to whom I refering to will be in Carlisle. I think we can at least get our message out to him, not that it'll do any good. He knows what the feelings are, but he can at least report back what he's being told.

I just knew the price would be like those GT500E they built about ten years ago. They were nice cars, but well beyond what most people can afford to buy.

I don't know, I don't think I have a problem with the Mach 1 being a performance based EV. MUCH better than moving the name to something other than a Mustang. I don't care for electric vehicles, but I suppose it will be a progression that will happen to all cars at some point in the future. Again, keeping the Mach 1 name with the Mustang really helps as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure this car will be out of my price range too lol.

Although this link is not specific to the Mach 1 hybrid SUV, it is mentioned and I thought it would be interesting to those following this awful ride...

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

no company heads can care about the products anymore as they have no ties to the heritage or following of the product.

they have totally ruined the idea of a car with all this ******** they add.

give me my 72 cougar back. I do not need color changing lights.
automatic rain sensors
automatic braking or parking
facebook links or email updates.
**** even a gps defets the pupose.
just radio , road to cruise and the rumble at my back.
kids today will never drive a CAR.
remember in transformars 1 when he came home with the junker Camaro
and his dad said

"it is his first car it is suppose to be like that."

Classic, and will not be said again as those days are sadly over.

I will have to tell my kid that I will take him to the drug store to by new batterys.
and it will not be for a electric mach 1 suv.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

Just checking in after a long absence and read this thread, flippin heck, the only slightly positive take on this for me is that if they bring out an SUV Hybrid with the MACH1 name, it takes all the emotional and financial pressure away from me ever entertaining owing one. Love my 03 MACH 1 its a keeper.
