Front Bearing Problems
I bought the car with a road noise that turned out to be a bad driver's side front hub assembly. My local Ford dealer replaced the hub assembly twice and after a short while and very few miles it starts making noise again. I'm losing faith in the OEM replacements. Is there a better aftermarket solution - Timkin, Moog?

Re: Front Bearing Problems
wow, thats pretty strange, I rarely hear anything about even the originals going out. Are there any suspension mods or aftermarket wheels we should know about?

Re: Front Bearing Problems
No mods at all. It's all original and only 15,000 miles on the car. It sat quite a bit with the original owner - but I wouldn't think that would do it. As far as the replacement hubs - all the garage will say is that they were defective. I had them check for any front end damage from an accident - but they said they didn't see any. Hate to put in another OEM and have the same results.

I put Timken on mine. No issues. Are they putting new nuts on with the hubs? They're one time use. And they need to be torqued to 250ft-lbs.

I've heard Timkin makes good products. Has anyone used Moog?

Re: Front Bearing Problems
Just a follow-up. I bought a Timkin hub assembly and had them install it. They think they discovered the culprit - there was no dust cap when they took the wheel off. No more noise - it's time to cruise again.

Re: Front Bearing Problems
No dust cap? It just doesn't disappear. They must have forgot to put it back on at some point, no??
Sounds like a rookie mechanic mistake.... Glad its cured, I bought Timkin as well, mine are both bad, one worse then the other. Bought the 2 for the price of 1 OEM part. I bought the new nut's as well, as I recall reading about not re-using the nut.
