Mach 460 speakera
so after buying the mach 1,like many people I wanted better sound.i hopped on Google to see what was out there as far as replacement speakers.found out quickly there aren't any...but many forums discussing this matter said you can't use after markets because of the ohm load.so I set to see what could be done with the stock ones....if you pull the front door and tweeter the door speaker reads out on my multi meter at 6.5 ohm....no shock..and the tweeter reads 3.5 ohm.i had an old set of kicker tweets laying around and one was broke...so I pulled the crossover and put it in line with the stock 2.5inch driver and **** if I didn't have somewhat pleasing sound coming from the little soundstream Rubicon 202amp on hi pass.....i wired it up in parallel and was expecting to see close to 5 ohm but nope...it still read 6.5 ,I'll swap this out in a few weeks..but I wanted to see what a passive crossover and a small Amp on high pass would do....and **** if I wasn't surprised...this is awesome on a cheap scale...

Re: Mach 460 speakera
Did You discover if the 6.5 mid and the 3.5 tweeter stock door speakers were in parallel or series ?

Re: Mach 460 speakera
The drivers rear 6x8 and front one is in series...so I pulled the amp rack, and rear speakers and wired up the front mid and tweeter in series with the kicker passive crossover in line with the tweet, and powered it with my soundstream Rubicon 202 on high-pass.noone believes me its stock speakers...

Re: Mach 460 speakera
If memory serves the drivers are also 8ohm not 4ohm so basically you are upgrading the amps if you change to standard 4ohm drivers.

Re: Mach 460 speakera
And I need to correct myself...i didn't run the door woofer and tweeter in series...they are in parallel with the kicker passive crossover in line on the tweeter...it sounds pretty good..I measured resistance and the 6x8 is 6.5ohm and the 21/2 tweeter is 3.5ohm.leave it to ford to make it impossible to just add better speakers..you gotta rip it all down and start from scratch.
