Re: Eaton Swap....Part II

Machgsxr, are you selling swap kits or know anyone who is? I am considering this swap soon after I move to Eagle Pass, Texas. Or know anyone who would do the swap for me and what kind of price I could expect?

What nickster said. Lookngo might have some parts laying around. I won't bother with them anymore. I can help with the install part, but piecing them together no thanks.

Archie...for the IAT...I cut the two outside wires on the MAF plug and wire them to the IAT sensor and the TMAP sensor on the back of the SC? I was looking at the wiring diagram and it shows them going to the PCM that's why I ask.

Okay...for some clarification, that sensor on the back of the SC is a Map and Temp sensor (TMAP). You have the MAF and an IAT sensor on the intake tube...so to make this work with our PCM you need to wire the IAT2 sig and RTN to the IAT on the intake tube via the MAF wiring...correct?

huh? Are you talking about using both of them at the same time? I only use the tmap sensor. The iat on the intake tube, I just plug it off. I use the wires that I cut from the maf and extend them back around to the tmap sensor.

Yeah I was talking about running the IAT sensor on the Tube and the Tmap (IAT2)...although after looking through both wiring diagrams for a cobra and a Mach I don't think its possible...

the Cobra's PCM has a signal for IAT2 at pin 37...the Mach's PCM has a wire there too...but its for the trans temp sensor on auto cars...both are signals for a temp potentiometer so it may be possible...I'm wondering if it is present on mine and if it is if I could use it.

If not I guess I'll go your route and ditch the idea of an IAT1

Put the new timing cover gasket's in place and put some sealant to help hold them in on the edge's.

Start mounting it back into place working it on nice and easy. There's two stud's down by the oil pan that need to be aligned to get it on, so make sure they are going in where they are supposed to.

Once you get it all the way back on go ahead and start reinstalling some bolt's. The top two that go into the heads by intake are some long studs along with the two on the bottom that go by the oil pan. Basically straight down from the top one's. The rest of the bolt's you can reuse your stock bolt's that came out. There's one by the water pump that does not get used though. See pic coming later.
I called them and they said that they were aware that the bolt by the water pump would not be used. However, the channel for the gasket is not matching the block. It's not mating up properly and they are afraid that it will cause some oil leaks which will be even more money to tear it back down and fix later.

Well I have been using your post for a guidance for my install. I am installing a eaton on my 01 cobra. The problem I am running into at the moment the lower intake it not going in. Any ideas what could be holding me up or what I am doing wrong.

Re: Eaton Swap....Part II

Did you grind the bosses down / off? I believe this has to be done before the lower intake will sit all the way down

Re: Eaton Swap....Part II

That or maybe the nipple on the intake is hitting your block. Maybe try getting another turn or two on it and see if it clears then. That nipple is a big black fitting with npt threads for your pcv system. You could also delete it if it gives you to much trouble. Don't tighten it too much either because I've seen an intake cracked from it as well.

Your talking about the knock sensors right. I have grinded them down a good amount. I was looking at the original post and I can't determine if Mach 1 threads go straight down or at a angle.

I have got the lower intake on without the knock sensors in the valley. The intake sits on the heads nice with the nipple in for PCV. I am just not sure if the threads are different from my 01 cobra to your Mach. Or if they have different knock sensors.
