Re: HID Lights

I just ordered the DDM 4300K high/low kit for my headlights with the matching kit for my fogs for the 96. I can't wait to install them once I get back to TN.

Re: HID Lights

just put the 5000k kit in my car and my bike. looks good. ddm tuning is 15 minutes away from me so i picked it up myself. i got the raptor brand kits because they were way cheaper, $30 a kit +20 for the hi/lo kit. the only downside is that they arent the super slim ones. made it challanging to find a place to mount it on my bike. size was not a problem for the mach though. 110 bucks for 3 HID kits is a pretty **** good deal

Re: HID Lights

I got a 35 watt Bi-xenon 6000K kit a few weeks ago. Installation was plug and play. To overcome any DRL headaches, you need the relay harness. But its still plug and play. And man, does it ever make a difference. Major difference. And when I flash-to-pass, it looks like police car strobes. Very happy, and much safer.

Re: HID Lights

You all seem to like the low K HID kits.... I had 8000k in my bike and I loved the blue tint to it, even though the bike was basically comp orange. I now want the 8000k to compliment the AB. Personally I'm not a big fan of the 5000k, cuz isn't stock around 3500 or something like that?

Re: HID Lights

ok so after re-edumakating myself on 5000k being the brightest, best visibility color, I now see why so popular. I still think 8000k ftw.

Re: HID Lights

I really wanted the 5000K bulbs as they come closest to OEM color, and provide the greatest light output. 6000K is fine too. The light is very white. Going with the blue-tint bulbs attracts the cops; last thing I want is a big fat ticket for "non-standard equipment" in the car. So the whiter HIDs work fine for me.

Re: HID Lights

"What is the difference between 55w and 35w kits?
Our 55w HID kits are 40% brighter than the standard 35w kits.
The 55W system ballasts are about 1 cm longer than the 35W ballasts.
55w kits tend to wash out some of the color of the HID bulb due to the light output( for example, a 55w 8000k will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit).
Our 55w HID Kit is not recommended for smaller fog light housings because they tend to concentrate a large amount of heat in a small area."

Taken directly from DDM's site. Anyone have melting issues or any other issues with the 55w kits?

Re: HID Lights

i was thinking about this again...it's not as much melting as it is yellowing the headlight housing from the heat..which i guess is a way of melting it?

Re: HID Lights

ive installed 4 sets of the ddm 6000k 55w kits.

at 55w 6000k is pure white with no color at all.

imo headlights should be white. not blue yellow or purple.

btw thats a crock of ****. ive yet to have any housings melt or discolor from the heat. your housings over time will yellow.... on the outside from the elements.

Re: HID Lights

Ordering the 35w Slim ballast 6000K from DDM... hi/lo, do I need the $15 "Type 3" error eliminator?
What about the $15 Dual in/out harness, do I need to order that too?

These are going in the Saleen so I am not going to need an additional set for the fogs. Once I get them in if they are not too blue I will order a set for the Mach1 as well, with matching fogs.
