I am sorry but this time change an hour forward just sucks.
Anyone else dislike or like.
One thing in Iraq they did right was no time change

Re: time change

I like it in the fall...

They should do the spring time change at 3:00 on a Friday afternoon.

Re: time change

Up here in Central Alberta it's light till 11:00 at night in the summer.
Makes it nice to play ball in the evenings and makes it possible to golf till 9:00 at night.
That and going for a nice slalom on smooth as glass water on a quiet lake, there is nothing in the world that beats that.

Re: time change

I like it and hate it. I like it being light later into the evenings. But I hate that it's dark when I get up. I know it'll change, but right now I hate getting up when it's dark. I usually go to Az to play with the boat and they don't ever change time.

So do I. It gives me a chance to hit the cross country trail here at work when I get off.

Re: time change

DST needs to be obliterated. It is past its usefulness and causes millions of dollars in software development costs ranging from servers, pc even things that many do not think about like power line sensors, etc. The shear amount of costs to an infrastructure is incredible; maybe billions world wide. I can say that my company has spent almost a million in just patches over the years because DST does not happen on a schedule rather follow governments decision of when to engage it.

It is stupid... it is old and useless and I am tired today because of it.

Re: time change

To add to the millions; last week my company spent more than 10k to fly down to a customer just because of this issue. Not because we did anything wrong, rather the customer did... it is a long story but still cost both companies much money.

^ all of this

someone please explain the purpose of doing this in our current era
because over the last 5 to 10 years I've reached the conclusion it is just more unnecessary BS government control over our lives.

most people have no idea what a pain in the *** this is. We have to reprogram out punch card machines every year, we forgot this year. It didnt actually hurt anything because nobody is working at midnight but you still have to explain it 275 times that nobody got screwed on their hours and we know they werent actually late

Re: time change

Hawaii had no time changes. It just meant an hour difference when I got calls in the middle of the night from my ex that was on the east coast. 3 years and she never figured out that we were 5 or 6 hours behind....ughh along with banks, telemarketers, and the usual onslaught of useless calls you get. And yes I stopped answering the phone but the thing still rang.

Re: time change

Nothing worse than fall when it's dark at 4:30 PM and nothing better than summer when it's light till 8:30 or later.

No fun going to car shows after work in the dark and it sucks not being able to do anything outside in the fall and winter after work. I'd love to have it light into the evenings as late as possible 24/7

Who do I call to get that done, LOL ......

Arizona has no DST. I dont mind it in the fall but hate the spring since we lose and hour. I like what another poster mentioned when they said spring DST should be on Fri @ 3PM.

Re: time change

I like more daylight after work, when I go to work it's always dark so the afternoon light is what works for me.
I just wish it was on DST all year, then I'd still have a little bit of daylight after work in the winter months.

Re: time change

i'm with you all that the later day light is nice,
again like TKat13 mention, it was from the past that it was useful, but now just not. I never did think of how much it would effect by the change.
glad i'm not a lone in this craziness

I like it too. It's really nice to have another hour of light in the spring through the fall. It used to be something to help farmers back in the day right? I don't think it helps them particularly anymore.

Re: time change

wouldn't want to disappoint those Idaho potato farmers, for sure.

because I'm positive the increased sales of French Fries at Hardee's was all about DST and had nothing to do with the end of the Winter school semester the last week of April.

http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/science/hsy73325.000/hsy73325_0.HTM

Quote:
The other would be something that we actually did when we looked at economic benefits. I remember the fast food industry, Hardees, looked at the first week of May versus the last week of April, Standard Time versus Daylight Saving Time, and they were blown away when they saw the difference. They saw an increase in sales of $880 per store per week on the last week of Standard versus first week of Daylight Saving Time, and as a result, McDonalds and a lot of those organizations became extremely active in our effort to pick up April. I was able to get both Idaho senators to vote for Daylight Saving Time on the basis of selling more French fries because they supply potatoes.

So it is kind of humorous and you can laugh at it, but it shows that I was able to get two votes from Idaho based on French fries and connected it to Daylight Saving Time. And if you can see the economic patterns as being highly complex and all these unintended consequences, I suggest that the energy issue may be every bit as complex, that you will push it down here, and it will pop up over here for another reason.

Re: time change

I love the Pacific time zone, and then when we have daylight savings here in the Pacific Northwest it doesn't get dark until 9:30. The sun starts coming up at 4:30am.

from my understanding that is why this whole time change was used in the past, for people working the land, I would think they would just get up earlier if they want more day light, being instead of having their clocked adjusted so they have to get up.

Re: time change

I hate it!

What is really weird is while I was in the military I went into Afghanistan and looked at my iPod and the time had changed by a half hour. I thought my iPod had freaked out and broke. I did a search and come to find out that here in the USA we break our time zones down by the hour, there is was done by 30 minutes.

For instance right now it is 6:45am in Tampa but Afghanistan its 3:15.pm.

Still scratching my head over how its an hour somewhere in the world but a half-hour somewhere else.
