Your pictures and thoughts

so I swapped out the 6 disk for a pioneer premiere head unit.and was pondering throwing my 2 10" subs in...come to realize the box is to big with the mach 460 rear speaker box and amp rack...so can you guys and gals post your audio pics...I'd like to see what fits, how it looks...and has anyone pulled the speakers out of the rear box and replaced them with aftermarket....I know you have rewire everything because of the ohm load ford chose...thanks everyone.

Re: Your pictures and thoughts

Crutchfield has all the plug and play harnesses you my need they also have slim line 10 inch subs that take up less space. I removed my stock system completely. In the process or having a custom fiberglass box built but have to finish motor rebuild first.

1 10" isn't enough bottom end bass..I prefer 2 10's or a single 12....anyone got pictures of their custom installs.

I personally believe the quality of the base is more dependent upon the proper enclosure design for the speaker and sound characteristics the listener is wanting rather than the actual size of the speaker, of course if all things were equal and the proper power is applied then bigger will be louder. But, I personally prefer a smaller driver, proper enclosure, high power and a seal box; I like tight bass; and if you want more than add more drivers. Lately I have been drawn to 8" drivers; they are not cheap, think I paid 220.00 for 1 8".

Again, not all drivers are equal, not all amps that say 200 watts are equal and not all enclosures are equal. When building your box to the volume size needed, do not forget to take into account the space the speaker consumes...

Yes, I used to be big in Audio; but then I discovered Turbos.

Re: Your pictures and thoughts

I upgraded mine a couple of months ago:
  • Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS head unit
  • 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch P3
  • RF P500X1BD Amp

The sub box barely fit so I'm glad I didn't go with the 12 which is what I originally had planned. Overall I'm very satisfied with this setup.

Re: Your pictures and thoughts

My mach doesn't have a radio. But I did just install a JL Audio W0V3 10" in my Fusion. The recommended closed box area is under 1 sqft, so its a small box for compact use. I am extremely impressed with the output of the 10" in low end bass. I previously only ran 12s but this 10 is probably the best sounding setup I have ever had overall. Amp is 300w RMS at 4ohms.
