Ebay advice

I orderd and paid for a new alum drive shaft on 9/5/06. After a few days I asked for a tracking number. After a number of ebay messages back and forth with an excuse that he is in school and in the process of moving I finally got a tracking number today for delivery next Tuesday. So 10 days between when he had my money and actually dropped it off at UPS.

I think this is way out of line. But maybe I am wrong. I just know whenever I have sold things here or on ebay I shipped them the following morning and provided a tracking number by mid day.

So the guy has a great rep on ebay. So do I dare give negitive feedback? We bought it under my wifes account and she is concerned he will give her negitive feedback in return.

Of course we will do nothing till I get it and make sure it is ok.

So what do you all think?

Re: Ebay advise

assuming you get it and everything is kosher with it, id prolly give him a neutral saying something like. product arrived just as stated but slow on getting it shipped.

Re: Ebay advice

I'd just suckif it up. If you get your shaft let it go. I have run into that problem myself and stopped selling. Our UPS is only open for two hour a day from like 4-6 and sometimes it is just impossible to get there in a timely fashion.

Id say you post neg feedback youll get it in return.

Re: Ebay advice

I believe that e-bay should require that the seller post feedback first. This way if your payment was timely the seller would have to little choice but give the buyer a positive rating. Unfortunately, that's not the case. If you give the seller a negative rating the possibility exists that he will do the same for you. No matter. If he was slow shipping, I would say so on the feedback. I would not give the seller positive feedback. I would give him a neutral at best and explain in the comments. You should have bought mine. Re: Ebay advice

You are fast at getting things shipped out.

I'm like you, I care about my rep but as you know, stuff happens and the seller may have had a glitch. I'd say give them a positive (if you get the driveshaft) but mention in the feedback that delivery was slower than expected. Shouldn't get you a negative for that.

Re: Ebay advice

Look at the original auction and see if he indicated an estimated time for him to get your item shipped. I've sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay and usually put in 2 days but for larger items 5 days is normally acceptable. I agree that a negative feedback may be too harsh but there's no law saying you have to leave him feedback at all. Chances are he'll get the message and consider himself lucky.

Re: Ebay advice

I absolutely agree, nothing jerks me more than this. I don't know how many times I have instant purchased something or paid immediately an had the teller tell me they will leave me feedback after I receive the item and post feedback for them. It's almost like blackmale

Re: Ebay advice

It's pretty easy.
12mm 12 point wrench for the DS bolts.
When re-installing, use red or blue loctite on the threads.
Mark the rear axle flange with the stock shaft balance marks. (usually yellow)
When you install the new one, use the marks on that one.
Mark the stock front yoke also.
Remove the front slip yoke from your original shaft.(set aside for re-use)
Remove front yoke from the new shaft. (set aside but don't re-use)
Install original front yoke on the new shaft while lining up the marks
you made earlier.
Install your new shaft lining up the marks made earlier.

So I was looking at the yoke.. How do I get it off the shaft?

Re: Ebay advice

From the U-joint.
Ever done U-joints?
If not, bring it to a shop and have them swap it for you.
It's hard to explain but easy to do.

I think I might do that. My shop may do the whole thing for me for near to nothing. Thanks for your help. Can't wait to get it on the car.

YUP. I got a damaged item, so I emailed the seller. NOTHING from him for FIVE days, so I leave a negative feedback stating such. Then he IMMEDIATELY leaves me a negative feedback, blaming ME.....now I have a negative (not that I care).....that's a stupid system....
