Painted the Plastic Shaker Surround
Recently bought some AB paint in a rattle can and decided to give this a try.
Tell me what you think! I think it dresses up the underside of the hood real nice like |

Re: Painted the Plastic Shaker Surround
I was just looking at mine the other day, thinking it looks like crap, along with the underhood pad looking like crap...

Re: Painted the Plastic Shaker Surround
I also hate the drain being silver, it sticks like like a sore thumb when you're walking around the car with the hood shut, it bothers me....

Re: Painted the Plastic Shaker Surround
The drains were black when the cars were new (look at a photo of an original car or a replacement shaker), but that only lasted a few weeks at best.

Re: Painted the Plastic Shaker Surround
That looks really good! A nice option to removing the whole thing, which is what I did because the insulator looked like crap.
The only thing is i hate modifying original parts, I would rather take them off and store them and replace with an aftermarket part where possible. |

Which refers to the metal drain tube fitting which was originally black, bit the material Ford used to make this item black did not last long. I'm fairly certain that the poster is neither Clark Kent nor Superman, either of which could see the underside drain with the hood closed. For the rest of us mere mortals, we'll have to stick with what is visible to naked eye with the hood shut.

Re: Painted the Plastic Shaker Surround
Where can you find factory colors in a spray can? I can find the little touch-up bottles but not spraycans.

Advanced auto had my can... a little off if trying to spray a bumper or something.. but for underhood it worked perfect since there isn't anything next to it to really compare.
