Track racing questions

I am going to the track for the first time with a set of Nitto NT555's, 315 35 17's and I was wondering about launch RPM's and if I should do a burn out or not. If so, how intense?

Re: Track racing questions

No burnout really needed on street tires

Re: Track racing questions

Burnouts actually hurt street tires

Re: Track racing questions

Go around the burnout box completely, don't want water on your tires. I usually spin them just a bit before I pull to the line, just to clean them off. I don't even get them smoking, then just pull up and pre-stage and then stage when your ready. Have fun and let us know what it runs!

Re: Track racing questions

With street tires the best I was able to do on the launch was about 2,000 rpms slipping the clutch to get a 2.0 on 275s. With 315s I think a 1.9 is doable.

Re: Track racing questions

I managed a 1.8 one time on 555R's at like 17lbs after a fair burnout. Although I wouldn't do much of a burnout if you can help it. Our local track is shitty and there is no room to go around the water. I think I left around 2500ish.

Re: Track racing questions

Thanks for all the info. I'm leaving for the track right now so I will let you know what it runs. I have an auto trans but I just put in a Circle D converter with a 3500 stall. I can't wait to see what it runs!
