Well like any good time, it must come to an end.
Sheesh, what a week.
It was great to meet up with some of you, hope it doesn't take so long to meet up again.

Not looking forward to the run north starting tomorrow AM, tho a good part is playing car tag with my cruisin buddy Chris.

Ray, start saving your money, collecting aluminum soda/beer cans, or rob a couple of liquor stores on your way back North so you make it to Carlisle in June. You and Chris be careful and don't feed the "Bears".

No 'bear' feedings & made it to West Chester PA.
Felt like a LONG drive. At least the weather held up.

Last leg tomorrow AM.

Curt, sorry I never get to see you there. I did see you on the track.
Had a great time seeing everyone, end the stories will be told for a long time. I'll post up photos as time allows, but I can say it one not to miss.
I was really happy that I stayed Sunday and got to do the parade laps on the track (even without my helmet). First lap wwas difficult as we were one running about 30 mph, and you not only have a hard time holding your head up, but it feels like the car car is going to roll over, the second lap was faster and was much more fun.

Haven't heard the final numbers but I heard last week that Charlotte had 4400 preregistered. There were between 850 and 885 for the cruise depending on who you talk to.

Reason I ask is bc someone here local said they made them park at the dragstrip with 7000 over mustangs. I called BS bc what I saw was MORE parking, inside parking, and then in the field behind the back stretch near turn 3.

They told me only 700 were allowed in the cruise in and people on facebook were pretty upset.

It was not as well organized as Carlise thats for sure.

There again, you'll hear different things but one source said only 1100 could park inside the track. I parked outside behind turn 3 the first 3 days and then they directed us inside on day 4 for the "drone" camera flyover and we parked on a big blacktop lot where Vaughn Gittin Jr had been doing his drifting routine the day before. I think the people over at the dragstrip were just parking and not part of the display showfield as they had to pay a parking fee. I saw probably hundreds of Mustangs parked in regular parking along with all the other non-Mustang who were there just to look.

They ran out of different items for the goodie bags so they must have been more people than anticipated. Yeah it was packed and crowded the first two days especially, but rain really held the crowd down Saturday. Sunday was beautiful but the weather damage had been done by then. I really enjoyed myself and so did everybody I knew there. But with some people you could make them happy if you stood on a street corner passing our $20 bills. They'd complain you didn't give them two $10 bills. Now on to Carlisle in June.

Lot of folks I missed at Charlotte, Bob. I'm amazed at the ones I did see though, but will most definitely be in Savannah in October and look for you. I'm hoping to take both Mustangs down and get the wife to drive my Shelby.

Cool, and your close enough to take both. Funny, like you said missing meeting up. But the funny thing is, I saw SALVO from Torino, Italy, who I kept tabs on before the 50th walking right by me next to the Classic Design Concept tent. I was STUNNED! Funny how things work. They were a GREAT bunch. Should be a lot easier to find you at the Savannah Show.

Salvo from the Italian Mustang Club? Wow! Didn't know he was there either. We were talking about him NOT being there (LOL). Saw and spent a little time talking to Wolfgang from the German Mustang Club.

Re: 50th Anv. Mustang Show @ Charlotte Apr 16-20, 2014

There were two things that DID NOT happen at the 50th, that you might be interested in. One is that I was working work a Coke distributor to have 50th anniversary coke bottles (or cans) done for teh event. They never really gave a good reason for not going forward with it, but I worked with Steve Hall on the program for some months early this year. Steve said he was disappointed, but not surprised as he has had dealings with them before with similar results. Too bad, that wold have been a cool keepsake.
The other thing is that a replica of the Mustang I two seat roadster has been built and was supposed to by at one of the events. At the last minute MCA called it off. I'm trying to get more information from Wolfgang on the details, but the guy from Diecasm/Automodello told me is Fiesta powered and front engined/fwd as opposed to the mid engine/rear drive set up of the original.

Didn't win jack. They didn't give away much, but what they did give away was mighty impressive. On the plus side, neither did Russ...
