Mac longtubes

Thinking about throwing some Mac longtubes on the Mach with a catted x-pipe. Is it worth the money and install?

Re: Mac longtubes

I went with the Mac LT's & the matching H Pipe, for the money and install I think it's well worth it. I did the install myself and it took me about a full week only working on it 2 hours every day and having more time on the weekend and it wasn't too bad. I didn't drop the K member but it would've been easier if I did. If you have any questions just ask!

Re: Mac longtubes

Do you still have to drop a header to get the trans out with the mac aswell?

Re: Mac longtubes

Yes I believe you do, just have to loosen up the passenger side.

Did you notice a big performance increase? And is there anything else you need for the install that doesnt come with them?

Re: Mac longtubes

I reused the stock manifold gaskets and used some of the factory studs and some of the supplied bolts that came with the long tubes. As for performance increase I haven't gotten a tune yet which would help me even more but I did feel more of a "pull" in the higher rpms. Deff worth the install, time, and money.

if you get on youtube, there a few videos of mach's with the mac LT's on there,

also the stock manifold gaskets are the best to use, when i did header install, didn't do LT's but they were the best gasket to use.

Re: Mac longtubes

The Mac longtubes are an alright header. I have them on my car and did the install myself. I had some alignment issues with my Leathal performance X-pipe and the Mac headers. I used new OEM gaskets and studs. The install was pretty easy. I did it by dropping the K member in my garage with no lift just a few jack stands and a couple jacks. The only part that you really need someone to help you is when you re-install the K member.

Re: Mac longtubes

i didn't drop my Kmember, make sure you do, it was a pain and would have made things a little bite easier.

I'm looking into getting the Lethal X, can you give me some details on the alignment issues? Thanks

Re: Mac longtubes

I gained 15 HP and 20 ft/lbs torque with the BBK long tubes. Plus it sounds awesome as well.

The driver side Mac header kind of has a slight angle to it and the Lethal X pipe is straight. I don't know for sure if it was the X pipe or the header but I had to have a small section on the X pipe bent. I will take a couple pictures of it and post them in the next day or so.

Re: Mac longtubes

Thanks Parker, I know exactly what you're talking about, mine is the same way....didn't have any issues before because I had my prochamber cut down to fit....ditching it now, the exhaust is swirling in the prochamber, which has greatly reduced my sound...no much popping on decel. Guess I'll have to do some bending when I get mine.
