Rear wheels and tires.

Well, we have been thinking about chenging the rear wheel and tires out on the Mach for something a little wider. We want to keep the stock front rims and tires, so the rears have to match. I'm not sure where to even begin looking for a rear set of 10.5 wide wheels for the car, so any help you guys have would be awesome.

Also, what kind of tires do you recommend? We don't drag the car, just cruise in it from time to time and take it to shows.

Thanks all

Re: Rear wheels and tires.

AFS wheels make/made a replica 10.5 Mach wheel, not sure if inside the spoke exactly matched. Then there are others but I know for sure those dont match exactly. Last time I heard there was a wait list for the AFS's.

Re: Rear wheels and tires.

The replicas match fine, alot of the members have them, but there is a long waiting list for them from AFS.

Re: Rear wheels and tires.

I put 17X9s with a 3/8's spacer on the rear and went with a 285/40/17 tire. I did not like the heigth tires you had to get with the 10 1/2 inch wide rims. The rears were actually lower then the fronts. So my combo now is 255/45/17 fronts and 285/40/17 rears. She sits very good and tires look just right from the rear

Really?? Not to be an arse, but mine measure the same sidewall height as stock... hmmmm.
BTW, I have custom ordered AFS's... with 11" wide in the rear.
VERY satisfied. Worth the wait...

Regrets: Shoulda went with a H-pipe and dropped the cats... but at least they are gutted.

Your right. Its been a while since I got mine. It was because I wanted a wider sidewall then stock and you can only get 315s in a 25.7 tall tire. I wanted less of a low profile tire and to fillout the wheel well a little more. Now I remember.

Re: Rear wheels and tires.

I wanted a taller tire too... about an inch
Why?
1: Helps fill that back end out
2: Helps give it more grip at launch
3: Gives it the "jacked" look like the old muscle cars
4: Wouldn't have to lower the front end to gain #3

Does anyone think that if enough people request a tire size that a tire company will oblige?

How about a 318/40ZR17?? or in old school... 27x12.50/17
WITH more sizes than a few so we can have matching tread up front.
AND make it affordable... no $300 a darn tire!!

Re: Rear wheels and tires.

I think my 285/40/17s on my 17X9 rims are just about perfect for me They are rated at 26 inch tire. I went with F1-GSD3s.

Even if ya found someone to make em they wouldnt be cheap. All the tooling and testing they would have to do just wouldnt make sense for low production run on something that wont be re-ordered for at least a year

I agree. If they had made a 26+ inch tall 315 when I was looking it would have been my first choice.
