Re: battery
I run a full range amp and a mono amp for the sub total is over 2,600 watts rms and the amps are A/B not D so they pull a lot of power. I have been through 3 optima batteries, diehard platinum (loved it but they stopped selling it) and now I have a Deka intimidator 34/78 and it has been great. None of the batteries fit perfect in the tray. I cut the side off that faces the front of the car and the batteries don’t move after they are tight. I actually had to shave some plastic off of the Deka to get it to fit.
What I found is that no matter how good any of the batteries have been the alternator just cannot keep up if I really run the system. If you can charge the battery occasionally (I charge once every week or two) you will be fine. If you can't or don’t want to charge it all the time, get a cheaper battery and upgrade the alternator. http://www.autobarn.net/deka-intimid...FRlMDQode64B1A |

Re: battery
I would never buy another Optima again but I ran one for a while with no problems, it came with a couple different adapters and one of them held it just fine.
As mentioned with a big system you really need a higher output alternator, battery is just a bandaid and will have a shorter life. I have heard something about a higher output alt from a crown vic (police unit) being an option then theres PA alternators and Mechman in no particular order. Most of them are gonna require some wiring upgrades

Re: battery
I have had to re-think the battery thing this past year. I was accustom to putting in a red top and not worrying about it. Always started the car even when it sat for a week or two. Latest batteries just don't seem to do as well as the ones I had in my coupe 10-15 years ago. Now I keep a tender on my battery at all times if the car is sitting for more than a couple days. Not sure what I would do with a large system. Other than keeping a tender on it when the car is parked.

Re: battery
All the batteries out there are made by a small handful of companies, most of the traditional batteries are made by 2 different ones and it seems like none of them really last anymore. We all just buy the 3 year free replacement battery because in FL thats all you're gonna get anyway

Re: battery
Man that sucks...its not surprising if the batteries are made by a couple companies....this isn't the spot for this but has anyone had the issue with the check engine light coming on,pull the codes and find its a oil sensor..i think the code was 5284 so I replace the sensor and it still does it......i read somewhere that on hard excelleration our oil pump almost suck the pan dry...i hate seeing check engine lights...

Re: battery
if your pan has the proper amount of oil in it there should not be an issue sucking it dry. It would help to know the exact code for sure.
