Bummer at Buckees

Well, The Katy TX Buckees no longer has the 92 ethanol free fuel I have been using for the past several months. Could not find it at any of the pumps. They have the 87 octane version but no 92.

Car ran so much better, fuel mileage improved, seat of the pants throttle response improved etc. Car was just that much better. Even smelled better LOL

It was expensive, but since I usually only fill every 7-8 weeks it was no big deal...

Oh well...back to the crappy corn blended 93...

Re: Bummer at Buckees

Washington state switched to all 10% ethanol back in about 2004. When I moved back to Iowa last year I saw they give you a choice of straight gas 87 grade or 10% ethanol grade 87, and for premium 91-93 it's straight gas only which I definitely like.

Re: Bummer at Buckees

We have only a small sprinkle of stations that offer any non-ethanol fuels, but there are websites that can point you to them.

Race gas type octane without the race gas price. Down side is it takes about 30% more volume for E85. So you need a bigger fuel system. As well as making sure the parts won't have issues with the alcohol.

Re: Bummer at Buckees

Yup. Been over 4 Months. Going to push this week to cancel the order. Will have to wait until next year to possibly try this again. Not a happy camper.

It doesn't fair very well sitting in the tank for long periods of time too, correct?

Thumbs up Re: Bummer at Buckees

Bummer about Buckees and 92 octane, still a killer place for beef jerky and some of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in a giant place like that w/ almost a hundred gas pumps...The only high octane I buy any more is Shell Premium and of course it has ethanol in it

Re: Bummer at Buckees

I put Royal Purple Max Clean in my tank about every other fill with Shell premium. I figure it stabilizes ethanol, but who knows for sure if it's really doing much. I guess it makes me feel better..? Lol
