Re: Best clutch replacement

I'm considering an 03/04 cobra clutch. Not sure if you've checked into those.

Re: Best clutch replacement

For a DD with bolt ons the stock clutch does the job very well.

Re: Best clutch replacement

Where do you find the stock clutch at a decent price? What about a full bolt on 4.56 gear car that sees track time on Dr's?

Re: Best clutch replacement

I think we need to know more about your preferences, as everyone is different along with their needs. I wouldn't go with anything more than a stage 2 clutch, and I'd get a disc style, don't get a puck one.

Whats the most important factor to you?
Do you mind a clutch that feels stiffer than stock?
How hard are you going to be driving the car?
What kind of 60ft times do you cut now with the DRs?
Whats you future power level?
Do you mind a little chatter and noise?
Do you want the clutch to grab right away, or do you like to ride it out a bit?
Do you plan to sell the car?

I just joined a drag racing club in college so ya it will see some track time. Not much at all. I hate noise and chatter, annoys the piss outta me lol and I like just about everything like my stock one. I just dont know if I should go ahead and spend the money to put a new one in now or wait til I need one.

Re: Best clutch replacement

How many miles are on the car? I have 65k and my stock clutch feels good. I'm getting close to having to replace mine though, don't see it lasting much longer.

Should still have 10-20k depending on how you drive the car.

Re: Best clutch replacement

I'm not sure whether I should go with a stock replacement either. I do want something a little less stiff. I plan on having 500rwhp max...I also don't want something with a heavy pressure plate.

Re: Best clutch replacement

I did the Exedy clutch from American muscle in mine...It's the Mach 400. Ford racing throwout bearing, pilot bearing and flywheel. Over 30k miles and not a single issue. Sounds great, feels great and I daily drive my car 30-40 miles.
