Clutch Reviews

I am looking for a good clutch without having to pay a fortune. I want something with a nice pressure plate (not too heavy) and something to be able to handle some power (approx 500 hp). I also don't want ANY chattering noise which I've heard comes with some brands. I have heard really good things about the McLeod Super Street Pro Clutch kit. I was also told to upgrade my flywheel...didn't realize how pricey those are!!! Thanks in advance.

Re: Clutch Reviews

Hear are my experiences:

Stock: I liked the stock clutch. But it didn't last long at the drags.
Spec Stage 3: Had a strong pedal feel, but it was great for launches and non stop abuse. Destroyed my billet steel flywheel rather quickly.
Ram Stage 1: My favorite clutch I've had. Soft pedal feel, yet great for hard driving and daily duty. I ran this with the stock flywheel.
Science Friction Kevlar: Good clutch when its cold, but after abuse or long drives it gets hot/glazed, and I can't shift worth a crap. Its like once it gets hot it wants to stick to the flywheel. Wish I could throw it in the dumpster.

Thanks a lot! I always thought that RAM clutches were "bottom of the barrel" but I guess not! I noticed that American Muscles top clutch is the Exody although that could just be due to the fact that it has the most customer reviews...

Re: Clutch Reviews

I have an Exedy Clutch with Exedy flywheel. I like it a lot. Pedal feel is great, not stiff at all. It is actually a softer feel than the one I replaced (not OEM, but autoparts store replacement).

Zoom Stage 2 with FRRP Billet flywheel, Steeda adjustable with quadrant. I have over 15,000 miles..zero issues, no slip, sees drag track use and is easy on the knee.
