I like the look of the red valve covers, it really offsets the other colors great. I was thinking about doing a different color,or polishing them. Now I'm thinking red would look great on my White Mach.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

mine are the frpp ones with the texture finish and they arent bad to clean. I actually find they hide dirt better. The stock ones would show dirt big time even the littlest of dirt. these look good all the time and the dirt just wipes right off when the covers are cooled off

What do you use? Mine still look great. Only afew thousand miles with them on, but I'd like to know what works to clean them well, and not scratch any of the paint off.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

Can someone tell me where and how they did the power coating? Did you take it to a garage or do it yourself as in installing them?

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

Just finished mine, Bright aluminum powder coat, and I painted the coil covers with red caliper paint and high temp clear. Still trying to decide if I like the coil covers, but they are easy to change.

Cool Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

How hard was it to remove the valve covers? I really like the powder coated look. I have a red Mach and would like to do mine red and at sometime do the front cam cover. The color under the hood really looks sharp! Thanks for sharing all the pic's.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

I had mine powdercoated 2 years ago and they still look great. The passenger side is no problem, the drivers side is a PITA. I had to remove the m/c to get enough clearance to remove. Had them off about a week while waiting on the powdercoating. I have probably gotten more compliments on them than any other visual mod.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

I cant believe I didnt post finished results in here. I did have some of the parts painted at the local body shop. The hood shroud and the rear firewall cover were both sanded and painted the body color to match. It really fits in nicely I think

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

Those look awesome. I want to do that with mine now too! Especially after buying the powered by ford coil covers. the coil covers look too nice for the '04 valve covers, but if i did up the valve covers, the coil covers would then look nice on top of them. Thanks for the pics.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

Back from the dead!

I have a spare set of valve covers that I plan on sanding down and getting powdercoated or painted. I called a few places and a couple said that they cannot match the color of the car, and only offer "Red", "Blue", "Green", etc...just normal colors.

That's with powdercoating. Is it safe to just paint them?

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

Back in the day I painted my gt40 intake the same color of my car and used
the same paint that I had left over then cleared it I would think you could
do the same with the valve covers.

Nice pictures! When you say that you painted it, did you just order your factory paint in a rattle can from somewhere like PaintScratch.com, or something?

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

I went to the bodyshop supply store near me and bought 1 pint self etching primer, 1 pint Ford color CX, 1/2 pint black, and 1 pint clear along with all the activators and reducers required. I sprayed with an HVLP gravity feed gun attached to a 30 gallon compressor.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

A little off topic, but I am noticing that the air tube for the shaker is painted/different material. What is going on??

I would like to make mine a little different as well, any pointers??
