Sean Hyland "Road Race" Cam Specs

Just kinda curious about this Sean Hyland "Road Race" cam. Lift is only 0.385 which is considerably less than most other performance cams.

Anyone have a clue as to "why" it is only 0.385? I understand these Modular engines respond better to duration than lift. Guess it would help prevent spring failure - maybe???

Why would a "road racer" select this cam as compared to the more common Comps, etc. that have 0.425 (or more) lift?

Specs:
Road Race Cam
Cam Timing .050
Opens 4 ATDC
Closes 46 ABDC
Centerline 111
Duration 222
Valve lift .385
Cam Timing .050
Opens 36 BBDC
Closes 12 ABDC
Centerline 102
Duration 228
Valve lift .385

Spring life, that's the only reason. It will give up some power but not a lot.

Actually knowing Sean Hyland they are regrinds, and you have to lower the lift on a regrind if you don't want to shim the lash adjuster or run a longer valve past a certain duration point.
