Eaton Owners Question
I've finally pieced together an entire eaton swap for my car, now all I need to do is return from this deployment and put it in, get her tuned, and see how she runs.
My reasoning for posting this however is a question to everyone who has an eaton swap on their car. Of all of the guys who have eaton swaps on their cars, what kind of milage is on your vehicles? What kind of mechanical problems has the Eaton swap caused, And how many miles have you had the actual eaton swap on your car itself. Is it safe to DD a car with an Eaton swap? my car is currently at...I think just shy of 55K miles. Should i shop for a 98 honda civic as a DD?

I've had my eaton swap for about 10k miles and about 47k miles on the car, it would be more but I don't DD the Mach anymore. The only problem I have had is over spinning the alternator which is mostly my fault. The alternators are pretty much at their max rpm from the factory and shifting at 7k rpm isn't helping it any. Other than that I have had no mechanical issues.
The fix for the alternator is either to run a larger pulley from the get go or spend for one of the new Mechman 6 phase alternators. They are not cheap at $550 base price but if you've ended changing as many alternators as I have it's worth it. If you could afford to retire the Mach from DD duty then go for it. I love driving my Mach and it feels that much better driving after driving a CR-V everyday

Re: Eaton Owners Question
Thanks for the information, I'm just worrying about the durability of my car. I am planning on picking up a DD soon but until then the Eaton mach will have to be my dd. Anyone else?

Re: Eaton Owners Question
i dont see why it would be a problem. If you have a good tune and your IC pump work have it at. Eatons themselves are dead nuts reliable thats why so many OEMs use em and youre gonna be using mostly OEM parts in the conversion. Dont flog it up and down the street all around town all day every day and I dont see why it wouldnt be just fine

Re: Eaton Owners Question
122k miles on my car and swap has been on for about 4k miles. Been to the track a few times and have done a few back to back runs. No issues, just make sure you have a good tune.
