The funny thing is, you couldn't pay me enough to live in Midland.

Since the oil is what pays my bills, I'm ok with it being an oil town. I will take Midland any day over El Paso, but I would take Lubbock over Midland.

Thunder Alley used to be nice...but I wonder how much money the owner wants to let it go...

I was curious. Is TOYAH, Texas abandoned? It's in-between El Paso and Midland. When we drove through in Oct., it looked like nobody lived there.

Re: Living in El Paso ???

After a quick Google search, it seems as if it might be.

"I have to admit, it was painful to photograph this town. I got stung by a bee, backed into a mesquite branch, kneeled down on a thorn pile, hit my head on the school’s swing set, and almost stepped on a snake. This may be one of the reasons Toyah is vacant. – Stephen Michaels, August 10, 2008"

We spent the night in Midland in Oct. We stayed at the LA Quinta on Wall St. We liked the Denneys Resturant down the block. But Midland needs a little help though, sorry to say.

LOL you stayed on the junk side of town. If you are ever coming here again go with a hotel on the loop on the north side of town. I've lived here for the majority of my life and have never once even eaten at that Denny's. All the nice area of town are towards the North.

That figures. Wish we had time to look around. I'm sure there had to be more to Midland than just the Wall St. area.

Re: Living in El Paso ???

I spent quite a bit of time there when I was younger. I lived in Las Cruces though, and my family are truck drivers, and they have a HUGE refinery there.

I thought the town was fairly nice. There are good parts and bad parts to every town. Again your right next to Juarez, which is a total **** hole. College friends I know would go get jacked up in Juarez, wow do they have some stories.

True, it is almost all brown people there. But there is nothing wrong with the town, I would live there given the right neighborhood. If you don't own a few guns, now is the time to buy some though considering the proximity to Mexico. Criminals run across the border and they are home free.
