I wouldn't think it would.
I cheated and just went and got one of those 8" tall black shorty antennas from my local Mustang shop.

Itll make your radio only pick up rap and hip hop stations....lol
No it will have no effect the shortening part will have some effect way up in the sticks thats about it.

Funny. I have Sirius that transmits through an FM transmitter so I guess it wouldn't matter anyway. I'll paint mine then and see what happends.

Hasn't affected reception for me... but I've primed it.... painted it with multiple coats... and it still fuggin gets chipped
