A lady from Washington, NC carved the unfired bricks into the design. Then she took the unfired bricks to Triangle Bricks in Raleigh, NC where I purchased the bricks for my house when I was building it. The design was fired with the bricks used to build my house so everything would match.

Re: A Pīc†ure of My Fīreplace...

I could swear it's photoshopped based on the shading and mortar lines through the pony being too perfect through the tail and head.

That is a really neat idea and beats any poster on the wall hands down.

Looks photoshopped to me. How about a side-angled shot for dimension?

Photoshopped. The mortar lines are distorted from the bevel filter used. Creative, but fake.

Good observation. The mortar lines were shaded in because the horse did not show up well at a close distance, which is my living room. The blaze spot was added to the snout. It is not photoshopped.

Yes it is. Well, now it is. When I built my house in 1998, the mantle was straight. I made the mantle from a huge oak tree that fell during Hurricane Fran in 1996 on a friend of mine's property in Pinetops, NC. I cut it down it what you see and let it dry out for over a year before I used it. Over years, the solid oak mantle has cracked. It just adds characteristics to it.

Looks cool.
It isn't one of those
"It looks too real so it must be fake" things to me.

Re: A Pīc†ure of My Fīreplace...

For those whom have a difficult time believing anything, here is a picture of the brick sculpture laid out on the floor as the brick masons were running the courses to install it.

$1300 for the brick sculpture. Had to pay the masons extra for the installation, I forget the exact figure but I think it was somewhere around $250. Not to mention, several brick masons declined to bid on my house due to the brick sculpture. The biggest problem was time, scheduling the bricks to be fired with my run of bricks.
