light scratch questions

ok i have a question for light scratches, not swirls marks. but you know when u have a scratch thats not to deep that it hits metal, but deep enough where u see the white? like i guess its a base color. whats the best thing to do to these? i tried meguires scratch x, and it works pretty good, it make most of it go away but some white is still there. does ne one else have ne products? would a good wax then polish get these out? thanks for ne responses

I have used 3M fine cut rubbing compound part #39002, to remove some light scratches. Rule of thumb, if you run your fingernail across the scratch and feel it, it won't rub out.

Others have used LANGKA, with some success, for deeper scratches and rock chips.

The paint on our cars is extremely thin, most people fault Ford with this, but it is mostly due to the HASMAT regulations that went into effect in 2000, calling for less paint and softer clear coat.

The best and only permanent way is to wet sand and buff with 3m. I use 1400 and soap/water. Lightly sand to a haze keeping it wet. Wipe dry and inspect....repeat as needed. Then buff and wax and poof it's gone. Only works when primer isn't showing and be careful not to go to deep. That sopt ends up looking better than the rest of the paint.(when you see how it looks after the wet sand you will be sick but the shine will come back) It takes gonads to do it though and read up on it well. It isn't for the faint of heart.
