Mecum WTF
Have been watching Mecum Chicago last 2 Days. Yesterday a 2003 Azure Blue Mach with Auto sold for 7,000. Don't know how many miles it had on it but looked to be in really nice shape all the way around. I have seen prices all over the board with these cars, and obviously super low mile pristine condition examples still pull a pretty fair price. But 7,000 for a nice example

Re: Mecum WTF
Looks like a great deal for someone. The interior looks good, as does the rest of the car. Non-IUP car with auto tranny. Probably one of the rarest combinations out there.

Zooming in to the steering wheel, it looks pretty worn out. Maybe it’s got over 100k miles..? Either way, looks well kept. I agree, someone got a really good deal. Engine bay looks good, exterior and interior as well.

Re: Mecum WTF
it's only worth what people are willing to pay for it. most of the people bidding on cars at Mecum probably aren't looking for 2000s mustangs. interesting that the website lists it as a fastback. it's also an auto...the trans choice could be polarizing. for me personally one with an auto would not even be a consideration but i'm sure there are people that feel the same towards manuals. could just be random bad luck with the bidders in chicago today. i always enjoy watching the Mecum auctions...they have far more vehicles that appeal to me than Barrett Jackson ever does.

Re: Mecum WTF
It cleaned up real nice, surly it was detail, even with the steering wheel showing signs of wear, I would have been all over that car if didn't already have one....
Heck If I bring another car home I maybe in the garage permanently....lol

Re: Mecum WTF
That’s about right. I just sold a decent 04, black, auto, 92,000 mile car for $6500.00 and took the money plus a little more and bought a sub 1000 mile 03.

Re: Mecum WTF
Less than 1000 miles on it, that's insane. Would you mine telling what you paid, I understand if you want to keep that to yourself.

Re: Mecum WTF
It had about 150 miles on it. Brand new.
20k I’ve already put 1500 miles on it. No issues. It had been in a Dealers HVAC man cave and started up every month at least. Only non OEM parts were battery and tires.

Sadly these cars aren’t holding value like the terminators, I’m also seeing a whole lot of people selling their Mach’s to upgrade to coyotes or whatever else is out there. I made the mistake of selling my Mach once, don’t plan on doing it again. I get the biggest smile every time I walk in my garage and see it in there not to mention when I drive it.

Re: Mecum WTF
They actually built about 2k more Cobras than Machs. Since then, the numbers for the Mach have likely dropped more than the Cobra because of younger people being able to afford them easier, making the Mach even more rare.
In time, I think something similar to what has happened with the value of the original mopar muscle cars might happen with these Machs. Back in the day, the mopars were overshadowed by the other cars of the time, they weren't cared for or really sought after. Fast forward 30+ years and the mopars at auctions like mecum have brought and continue to bring the highest average dollars because there are hardly any left out there. Will this happen with the Machs? I don't know. I think the recipe, or at least a big part of it, is there.

Re: Mecum WTF
I enjoy the car enough that if it doesnt climb in value in the "retail" world, it still keeps climbing in value in "my" world since clean examples will become very rare if I had to guess. I didn't buy the Mach because it was the fastest option available. I bought it because it has character. I'm guessing most here would agree since we are still on this forum!

I have an interest in 4 door vehicles and station wagons. Like dropping some HP in them to make them a sleeper of sorts. The 4 doors and station wagons are hard to find, no one thought they would be worth anything and maybe they still don't draw the biggest dollar but I LOVE THE UGLY and rarity of these vehicles. My son has a 1978 4 door Malibu & a 1964 Chevelle 4 door wagon

Have you made any runs in the slowmatic since changing the converter and driveshaft? I've been a best of 13:55 103 with 4.10 gears and bassani exhaust, with ET Streets in the 1/4 mile.. I hear the changes you made get you into the 12 second zone easily. Curious of your experience..

Completely agree with everyone. I’m in SoCal and I’ve been going to a whole lot of shows and car meets around here lately and I have yet to see another Mach. Lots of new mustangs some terminators and some 99/01 cobras too but no Mach’s. Even the fabulous fords show only had about 6 03/04 Mach’s in it this year. They’re harder and harder to find. Lots have high miles and everyone seems to be selling right now. Also, I agree on the character comment, it’s the reason I love my Mach so much and literally chose it over a terminator.
