Question
Is the 2 - 3 shift better in the Cobra vs the Mach 1?

I'm glad Ford took a shot at the Cobra and it isn't all that expensive if one wants to constantly accelerate. Alas, they missed the overall mark and by a lot. Hopefully the next version will reflect favorably on Ford. Thankfully, the Mach 1 is a triumph in performance and value. IMHO |

I don't feel the tranny to be sloppy or noisy at all when compared to the Mach1. The Cobra is a nice car on the twists and curves as well as the straightaways, and leaves just about any car under 100k in the dust. |

I was fortunate enough to drive my friends brand new Cobra vert and it shifted like a dream or like a hot knife through butter. Much better feel than my Mach 1. I love both and hopefully will be able to add a used terminator to the stable in the future! Level headed Cobra owners

Cobra looks nice. Personally, I still prefer the MACH as a daily driver. What I really wished is that you could build your own Stang. For example, a basic 6 banger was the standard model and you could build up to whatever you wanted by adding options. Spend what you like and get a customized Stang to your liking. That'll never happen. Just wishful thinking on my part.

the shifting to me was off at first. a heavy clutch and the 2-3 shift was annoying. but im used to it now... and even at the track i cant complain. ive pulled great numbers... even with the crappy 3650!!!! i wish i could afford a cobra... itd be a dream come true!!!

I hate you. I test drove one today. It was a Vert and I hated that part of it. The shifter sucked and the seats were to narrow. But other than that it was awesome!

Guys,
Thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate your comments. I love both cars (Mach & Cobra). I feel each one of them has been built with a different purpose, and each is great at what they were intended to do. In my opinion, I consider us to be very fortunate to have these choices. I love the Cobra - I agree with Evil_Merlin in regards to the tranny. To me the it feels solid and smooth. The shifter IMO is great - i have not had any issues. By the way Evil_Merlin - I love your Steeda CAI. I may get one of those. Have you done your exhaust yet? Any recommendations? Enjoy the cars that we have . . . If I could I would have a Mach 1 in addition to my Cobra. But there is something about a house, wife, kids, dog, bills, etc that makes that dream difficult - lol For now, I am very happy with the Cobra. Lets see what happens in the future. Mach 1 Cobra |
