Re: Ida
I'm ok. I haven't heard from John C yet. I'm sure he will check in when he can.

Re: Ida
Thanks for thinking of us. I've got no power or internet, I'm doing this from my phone. Cars are good, and I'm at work right now trying to get something accomplished. People to the east and especially in the New Orleans area got hammered the worst. It could have been much worse, but it was bad enough.

Re: Ida
Sorry you got to feel some of Idas fury. We're still hurting in southern Louisiana. Power restoration is slow and I still am out of electricity. As is my mom, but again she still has a Generac so we are blessed in that. What few stations that have gas have long lines to the pumps as well.

Re: Ida
Hang in there. My folks were without power here in Houston after Ike for 4 weeks…one reason they have a Generac now. I have lived here since the late 70’s and all the bad ones that have come thru Houston. I am greatful it did not stay around loitering and moved thru. That’s what Harvey did 4 years ago. Did not move out of here quickly. Glad everyone is ok…

Re: Ida
It's a shame the rest of the world doesn't know the hurt that comes with these things. I got my power back last night and was able to score some fuel this morning. Trying to make my usual grocery run was dismal, with Walmart having no mild, bread, eggs, bacon, juice or produce. Target was microscopically better. This is going to take a long time to recover from. Worse than Katrina or Gustav for us.

Re: Ida
I know
After Ike and Harvey around here was a mess. Grocery stores were in bad shape, no north south arteries open to get from west Houston to southwest I-10 east and west was a parking lot most hours of the day. Taking at times two hours to go a qtr mile… I was fortunate we only lost power for a couple hours. I know what you are going thru believe me. No fuel, bottled water scarce, etc…hang in there…

Re: Ida
Even this long after fuel supplies are hit and miss. Grocery stores are still out of many staples, but at least we've mostly got power. New Orleans and many of the parishes south of us are still in dire need.

Re: Ida
Glad to see you post up. Some items in stores are absent, namely bread. Most everything seems to be getting back to normal. We are the fortunate ones in south La., as areas west as well as south of us arent' so lucky.

Re: Ida
Our turn today...looks like its going into matagorda bay, which means we are dirty side until it moves out...as long as it moves it will be manageable. Its the ones that linger around here that do all the damage (Allision, and Harvey come to mind). Even Ike which knocked out power to parts of the city for a month or so, was really more of a wind event...flooding was no where near as bad as Harvey...
anyway...wish us luck..

Re: Ida
I do hope and pray that it little more than a blip on the radar for you. This is a reality for those of us who live in these areas, but we can and do always hope that other than a little drizzle, you don't see anything else form this system. We are seeing a serious run of rain, thunder and lightning already from this goober.

Re: Ida
I’m on the west side of town so we have not received too much. Some rain and wind but the coastal communities have taken the brunt of this one. The eye is over us now and the rest of the day appears to be moderate. As far as Houston proper looks like we got lucky…

Re: Ida
Great to hear. We've had persistent rain all day, sometimes heavy. We're supposed to see this for about three days. Not what we really need after Ida and all the rain we've had this year.
