How to unlock SCT tuner?

I'm going to be putting my SCT xcalibrator up for sale soon, as I'm selling my mach 1. How does one unlock the tuner? I flashed my mustang back to stock, is that all I have to do?

-Thanks
-Dan

Re: How to unlock SCT tuner?

I believe teh person that buys it has to have their tuner unlock it.

Re: How to unlock SCT tuner?

I believe in the LiveLoad program free from SCT, you can unlock (un-mirror) your SCT and put your stock tune back in your car (this has to be done unless your selling your car with the tuner).

Re: How to unlock SCT tuner?

I already flashed my car back to stock. Now I would just need to download that program and I could unlock the tuner?

-Thanks

Re: How to unlock SCT tuner?

why do you want to unlock it? Either way the next person will have to pay like $100 to get it redone for their own car.

Re: How to unlock SCT tuner?

Doesn't it need to be unlocked to be usable for somebody else?

Re: How to unlock SCT tuner?

The previous owner MUST return the car to stock. The Xcal2 may report as being locked (in terms of programming), but this can be undone by the next user or the user's SCT dealer. However, if the previous owner does not return to stock the Xcal2 will still be VIN locked...a completely different situation. To break the VIN lock, the unit will have to be sent back to SCT to be unlocked at a cost of $150 plus they normally require proof of the reason for the unlock.
