Differences between a Canadian and U.S. Mach 1?

My Mach 1 was originally sent to Canada to sell but was bought by someone in the U.S. Im just curious as to what the differences are. I know the gauge cluster was in kph instead of mph but that was switched out and it has a bullitt cluster in it now, im still looking for a decent priced Mach 1 cluster. Also it has daytime running lights. Are there any other differences?

It may have the daytime running lights also. Other than the Speedo in KPH/KM, I don't think there were any other differences.

In Canada, the IUP was not optional - they all have it (I beleive). And all the warning labels should be in English and French.

Curious, did they come with block heaters? Generally speaking vehicles sold in teh Nothern US have them, so I figured the Canadian ones might.

Re: Differences between a Canadian and U.S. Mach 1?

If I remember correctly, I have the plug-in for my block heater jammed up somewhere out of the way, so it ins't hanging out by the pony in the front grill. I've never used a block heater since I moved to Ontario from the praries.

Diesels are the ones around here with block heaters...they do give an option on some gassers

The block heater is a heating element that heats the engine coolant so that the car has a small chance of starting when it is -40 degress outside.

Block heater failed on my '87 Tempo once. Couldn't get the car to start for 2 weeks - had to wait for the temperature to climb to the minus teens...

And they probably are less likely to be stolen but more likely to be vandalized if the local hockey team loses the Stanley cup. Or wins?

Maple syrup in the crankcase and Beer in the gas tank. Race days we run Whiskey (Rye) in the fuel tank.

The vandalize when the hockey team loses is mostly a Montreal/Vancouver thing.

I use 100% natural maple oil in my car, runs on Pilsner, and yes, my car goes "EHHHHHH" when I honk it .

Seriously, Block heater, speedo in KPH, and DRL are the only differences.

Re: Differences between a Canadian and U.S. Mach 1?

Last couple weeks I have been able to check out 2 Canadian Mach's and for some reason both have sercurity glass etching done to all the glass piece's. Is it possible this is a Canadian thing only or is my US Mach just missing it. Also both Canadian Mach's are 2003's where mine is a 2004.

Any difference in smog equipment?

While we're on the whole export topic, how about the 99 Cobra amber tail lights in other countries? I don't think Canada required them, but I saw a YouTube video in spain that had them... Do any of the Mach 1 owners over seas have to change them out when they move over from the US?

Yup, The UK demands that the rear turn signals are amber, so the Cobra cluster is the perfect professional looking solution. Some people just swap an amber bulb into the reversing light but I don't like it.

Also the front side lights have to be white, not amber (thats a slightly harder one to do).

Also, we have to have a switchable red hi-vis (fog) lamp at the back.

Did a little digging and I do have the block heater as well as the battery blanket. I pulled the fuse for the DRLs though. Is it hard to take off the block heater? I really dont need it here in VA.
