NGK TR6 Iridium Spark Plugs

Does anyone have any experience with NGK TR6 Iridium spark plugs on Mach 1 with centrifugal blower setup?

Yup. That's what I've been using since 2005.

When I was doing my research it seemed to be the most common plug for supercharged setups. I bought a set when I supercharged mine...I have very little drive time on them but no problems so far.

The advantage iridium has is longevity. Copper conducts better and costs less.

Since supercharged cars are harder on plugs and are better off being monitored and replaced more often anyways, I prefer the 4177 since they're cheaper and conduct better. But you should ultimately use the plugs and gap setting your tuner suggests.

Heard nothing but good things about NGK TR6 Iridium spark plugs on boosted applications. The copper ones may conduct better and cost less, but you're changing them more often so it ends up costing pretty much the same price in the long run.

Re: NGK TR6 Iridium Spark Plugs

True the price may even out, but then the copper will still conduct better and be at an overall advantage imo. But again I'd run what the tuner likes.

TR6 are the gold standard for mildly boosted applications. Any tuner worth their salt will suggest them. Gap for them is usually around .032" - .035" for 93 and .025" - .030" for E85.

We tried a set of platinum plugs in my car, didn't notice any difference. Im back to copper - cheap, just replace em once a year and easier to gap since you don't have to worry about damaging the tip

Good point. I forgot about those iridium tips being so tiny.

you're supposed to use a different style gapping tool, the ones we all use pry against that tip, not supposed to do it with irridium as it can damage your expensive as plug. That whole thing about so strong its brittle.
