this thread is bringing back some memories... like when my car was a shiny new toy instead of something just collecting dust in the garage.

Way back when in 2003 a member here (Golions) disclosed that, according to Tremec, Ford had overfilled the transmission at the factory. I drained mine and refilled accordingly with 3.2 quarts of Havoline III, put in a MRT shifter, and have never had third gear lockout since.

I remember my early searches I found and readt that post not terribly long after joining the forum in 2012. If memory serves, I put in Mobil 1 ATF in mine, but never experienced any lockouts after that.
