Replacing Cats on MRT H-Pipe

All,

Has anybody had to replace a cat on an aftermarket h-pipe? The driver-side cat on my MRT H-pipe is leaking (see pic below). If so, where did you go to have the work done....Midas or Meineke..? I'm guessing it may be almost the same price as just buying a new mid-pipe. If you have had cats replaced and the price was reasonable, do you have any recommendations for a shop in central NJ to replace the cats?

If you recommend just replacing the mid-pipes, what brand seems to hold up the best to NJ weather? I currently have the Borla touring catback (baffled) on the car. From what I read, I need to stick with an H-pipe for baffled mufflers.

Pic of leaking cat:

Re: Replacing Cats on MRT H-Pipe

I would check with MRT first. They are real good about the guarantee on their products. They may replace it!!

Re: Replacing Cats on MRT H-Pipe

I thought the same, but unfortunately they only have a 90 day limited warranty on the cats. Plus, the original owner put them on and I have had the car for 4 years now. Oh well, I ended up just replacing the midpipe with a magnaflow catted tru-x. Different sound to the exhaust, but I'm happy with the change.

Re: Replacing Cats on MRT H-Pipe

I've had an MRT catted H pipe and Magnaflow catback exhaust system on my Mach 1 from about 1000 miles. I now have 25000 miles and never had a problem, I think if the MRT H pipe with the stock exhaust tend to restrict the MRT cats. Just my opinion.
