spotted a rare creature out of the wild

the shy Fiero is not often seen outside of a secluded habitat
I spied this one on opening day at the local track last month

these are really fun to drive, but hard to fit more than 3 people into

I love the Fiero's. I had a black 84 with cast aluminum looking wheels. That thing was so much fun to drive. Anything with flip up headlights is badass lol. I want to buy the V8 conversion kit so bad. If you think Mach1 parts are hard to find try finding parts for a Fiero.

I saw a gremlin on the rainy roads Monday. It's been forever since I've seen one in person. Dude had a suit on too.

Re: spotted a rare creature out of the wild

I recall 2 things most about the Fiero

A. The Cadillac Northstar swap (some used the Buick 6 cylinder).

B. The stereo speakers in the headrest

In the 90's would go to Turkey Rod Run in Daytona and saw a bunch of these, and the 302 swap in the Focus

I would think the vert Cougar is on the rare side, but don't know how many were built

Re: spotted a rare creature out of the wild

I used to own one. It was kinda like driving a go kart on the street. lol. To the OP, how do you fit a 3rd person in it? Ha ha. Mine caught fire and that was the end of my Fiero ownership.

a young person with a narrow bottom can fit on the center console
a boy-girl pair in the passenger seat can actually accommodate the double-date scenario
kinda impedes shifting, but when there's a will to do something then there's some stupid adolescents that will do it.
(oh wait, this was me in a former life)

the whole catching on fire thing was frowned upon by most consumers and ultimately led to the short production life-span.

can also verify seven stupid adolescents can fit in a single cab F150 and standard shift can still be done. intermingling gender is optimal for this.

Re: spotted a rare creature out of the wild

I see a Fiero about once or twice a year. To me it was a poor man's Porsche. I remember they use to give those cars away on game shows back in the mid-80's.

Re: spotted a rare creature out of the wild

I loved mine.
I had an Silver 86 2M6.
Even though it didn't have the updated suspension of the 88 car it handled like it was on rails.
The pop up head lamps were cool when they actually popped up.
I finally got fed up with mine and left them in the up position.
