Input on new rotors.

Looking to do a full brake job on the mach for appearance reasons as both my front wheel bearings blew the seals out with just 17k miles.

I would like some drilled/slotted disks front and rear. I don't auto cross or get anywhere near boiling brake fluid in the lines so cracking the rotors from extreme abuse isnt a concern of mine.

My main concern is many aftermarket rotors have a contact area bigger then the area bitten by the pad. Leaving a lovely rust ring around the rotor hat where the pad doesn't make contact. Not something im going to remotely entertain on my car.

For those of you that swapped what rotors do you recommend? I would like rotors with black hats as it save me the time from painting them myself.

Re: Input on new rotors.

If your more concerned about looks than performance, I would go with rotor pros. I have their zinc coated slotted and dimpled (was afraid of cracking) and have not had any rust issues.

The rust looks better and more natural with the stock wheels than a harsh contrasting black rotor. You probably don't have stock wheels though, and its personal preference. If I was to buy or paint I do it in a silver sink color.

I had rotor pros drilled/slotted rotors and could feel a vibration in the peddle. It was truly annoying. When I later started racing the car the fronts almost instantly developed cracks between the drill holes. Went back to stock and am much happier.

Re: Input on new rotors.

I've got rotorpros slotted rotors. They're great especially for the price which seems to be unbeatable. The rust around the hat will over time get so dark it becomes unnoticeable. He sells hawk pads for a ridiculously low price as well. Overall I certainly recommend rotorpros.

Btw- all of his rotors start their life as Centric blanks. Centric makes the rotors for companies like Stop tech and powerslot too I believe. Rotorpros simply cuts them how you want and sells them for realistic prices is the only difference.

I went with slotted and dimpled rotors because I was concerned about a cheap rotor cracking. The only problem I have with them is that the dimples cause a weird noise, but no vibrations or cracks. I have ran them pretty hard with repeated triple digit stops and they have been great with my EBC yellowstuff pads.

Re: Input on new rotors.

Im actually somewhat blown away buy the pricing.. 4 black zinc drilled slotted rotors, hawk pads, front and rear stainless lines is 440 to my door... Almost sounds to good to be true.

That is why I gave them a shot. At that price it wasn't that big of deal if they didn't last that long (mine have been on for about 5 years). If I remember right, they gave be a discount for being on mach1regisrty.
