I believe that the green hornet had IRS. I know that there was a prototype that had IRS around 68. But who know I could be wrong. Seems to happen

They were unique in that both were in fact coupes. Both were also big block cars, with the Green Hornet having a prototype fuel injection system and Little Red having a supercharger. Although both cars had vinyl roofs that fact did not make them unique as there was a '66 GT-350 fastback produced with that item as well (no, it was not pretty). I do recall something about one of them have an IRS set up, but it was removed early on and I do not have documentation at my disposal to accurately back this up.

Tuesday question: The Tunnel Port 302 Trans Am motor was a disaster and never put into production cars, nor was it advertised. However another motor was in the '68 sales brochure never made it into a production Mustang, or at least no one has ever been able to put their hands on one...what was it?

Yup, that's the one. The 427 4V option appears in the '68 Mustang brochure, but nobody's ever documented the existance of one. There was supposedly a Shelby (Super Snake) in '67 that had a 427 in it, but I think that legend has been beaten into the ground. Fortunately the 428 did show up in '68 1/2 and the tunnel port motor begat the Boss 302...till next time!

Beginning in '67, Air Conditioning became an option in Shelby Mustangs. There were, however, 4 Shelbys in '66 built with A/C. What was the other thing about these cars that made them very unique, and some of the most valuable and expensive Shelby Mustangs today. (No, these were not Hertz cars. Some say that there were 6 cars built in this group I am talking about, so far only 4 can be documented so that's the number I am going with.)

Yep, rag top GT-350's. Built, but not for public sale, these were even 'continued' later. So far, only 4 of them have been accounted for and documented to have been built although 6 were reportedly to have originally been built. The German Mustang web site is doing active research to verify this. Cobra stuff for tomorrow...be ready!

OK, not Mustang again, but this is a good one:
In the '60's a very famous comedian bought a Shelby Cobra, and went as far as cutting a comedy album (vinyl, LP,etc.) based on that experience. Who was he? What was VERY special about his Cobra (1 of 2, the other belonging to Shelby himself)? And, what was the name of the album?

Two out of three ain't bad. The person: correct. The album title: correct. The car:mmm...not quite...But anyone who even knows what a Twister Special is deserves a:THUMBSUP: . The car was a 427 Cobra equipped with DUAL SUPERCHARGERS! (Take that '03 Cobra owners! ) Also equipped with automatic transmission the cars had a flat, wide hood scoop not like the 'common' Cobra hood scoops. Both cars survive today, although one has been 'restored' by Rod Leach in the U.K. back to 'normal' specs. And yes, I do own a vinyl copy of this hysterical piece of history.

Since I'm going to be busy early Friday morning, I'll put this one out there tonight, and I hope for tons of replies! Here it is: There has always been a great deal of effort to differentiate the 64 1/2 Mustang from the '65. What differences are there between the two and of the three body styles available in '65 which one is not considered to have been available for the 64 1/2 car?

Fastback. Lets see, the hoods were different, head light buckets were different, of course the engines (260 & 170 were available), generator, no rocker moldings, there were some other diffs that I cant think of right now.... hey falcon, I like this trivia thing:THUMBSUP: to you for it!

Hood bumpers were different too. Though it was possible to get a very early 65 car with some 64 1/2 stuff on it i.e 64 1/2 hood bumper and if it was very early possibly a generator. I have a 65 vert that was built Oct 31 1964, and I wonder why I have problems with it, and it has the 64 style hood bumpers everything else is 65.
13" wheels were standard for 64 1/2 six cylinders. eventually changed to 14"

There were also differences on the door lock 'soldiers', and most early cars did not have a connecting ring for the gas cap. You guys were good on this one...maybe this was easy...tooooo easy!

Thank you very much. I was beginning to wonder if I was just wasting my time, but I'm glad that you're enjoying it. I fugure it's a fun way to share information, and learn some interesting Mustang facts for those that are new to the hobby. One thing about Mustangs, there are a lot of things that are not cut and dry. Now, I just hope to not run out of questions!

In the late 60's a famous pop duo had a pair of Mustangs customized by George "Batmobile" Barris. Who were they? (Note: There is no accounting for taste here!) Bonus question: We all know that Agent Maxwell Smart drove both a Karmann Ghia and a Sunbeam Tiger, but what kind of Mustang did his boss ("Chief") drive?

Sonny and Cher...correct. As in typical Barris fashion they were both very over the top customs, barely recognizable as Mustangs. Only shown once or twice, the "Chief" on Get Smart was shown wheeling up in a '68 Shelby convertible. (Still like Max's Tiger, though)

For today, a two parter again: What classic Mustang model was initially going to be called "SR-2"? Next, the original 'GT' was to be called 'Gran Sport', but this obviously changed in production. History very nearly repeated itself when the 'GT' was brought back in '82, what was the name that nearly made it into production for this Mustang package?(no, it was not Gran Sport)
