Mach1 to become an Electric SUV? Hell no!
Ford announced they will have an SUV/Crossover all electric vehicle by 2020 wearing the Mach1 badge... ridiculous!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra84N9pq6rQ Am I the only one pissed about this? As far as I'm concerned it will totally soil the legacy of the Mach1. I don't care if the new vehicle could actually do Mach 1, I don't want my performance muscle car associated with something electric or an SUV. I don't want to tell someone I have a Mach1 and then they think I'm driving an electric SUV. I'm all for making a performance electric car for the future, just don't use the Mach1 moniker! It would be better suited to use the performance truck moniker, "Lightning". Wouldn't that make more sense! Sorry, just had to vent somewhere.

Yeah, It's the most ridiculous thing Ford has (or might) do in a long time (maybe ever lol). You're kinda tardy to the hate party though lol.
2020 Mach1 hybrid SUV!?

Thank god I'm not the only one who hates this idea. Thanks for heads up on the discussion group chatter about this subject. I hope Ford execs keep an eye on all these forums. The more negative chatter about this subject the better! I'm pushing for "Lightning", it just seems to fit. Actually, it would be better if they could just come up with a new name and stop being lazy!

Re: Mach1 to become an Electric SUV? Hell no!
Pretty lousy idea for sure. Hopefully it will never happen.
If it does though, I imagine our Mach 1s will become more sought after as the last of a kind. I know it isn’t in the same league as the Mach 1 name, but Mitsubishi just brought back the Eclipse name on an SUV. Almost like these companies think that previous owners are aging and more likely to want an SUV now. Heck, I am 67 and want no part of any SUV.
