Re: 2012 Boss 302

Looks like it is going to be a feeding frenzy. I'm glad my Shelby is nearly here (sitting in a railcar here in Houston) and that should hold me over for a year or 3. If I could get a good deal on a Boss 302 I might jump on it but I definatley won't pay a "gotta have it first price".

Re: 2012 Boss 302

This is the same way dealers were allocated the Ford GTs, but it's certainly not the same car. This is gonna get way stupid, one way or another.

Re: 2012 Boss 302

It also reminds me of the first GT500s coming out back in 2006. It's hard to say what the market is for a $40K+ Mustang these days, although I guess one could look to the "5500 only" limit for the 2011 GT500s. If there are 2011 GT500s sitting around later this year and early next year, one might assume a several thousand car run would be enough for everyone who wants one to get one.

I still have the "6500 only" scar in my mind for our beloved 2003 Mach 1s

Re: 2012 Boss 302

According to Mustang Heaven.com...news leak from Border bookstore....

In the description it says the Mustang Boss 302 model will be built for two years (2012 & 2013) with 4,000 models produced each year. Of the 4,000 Mustang Boss 302 models 3,500 will be street cars and 500 will be ”R” race cars ( Laguna Seca edition). If this is true Ford is limiting production to just 8,000 Boss Mustang 302 models for 2012 and 2013.

Re: 2012 Boss 302

I see John Clor is responsable for the new Boss 302 book. Should be a fascinating read.
The production numbers are about what I'd expect, unfortunately they also spell doom for my plans to ever be able to purchase one since they are in smaller numbers than the stealership favorite GT500s.

It will probably increase my chances of owning a GT-500 in the future as well. I've seen what little info is being released now on the Boss 302's as lowering the price on GT-500's. Some the higher end buyers willing to pay full or added prices on the Shelbys are now putting down payments on Boss 302's or making plans. Several of my friends have now purchased new GT-500's for $48K and $45K with no markups.

I remain hopeful, but we will see.

I'm not diggin' it. Besides, knowing Ford's tri-colors, matching it after an accident is gonna be some kind of fun.

Re: 2012 Boss 302

Looks like a pearl coat yellow. I'll pass. If I want yellow, it will be Screaming Yellow. I'm not a fan of pale, muted tones. I don't see how this color will work with the Boss appearance scheme.

Wow!!! What a profane statement for me to make at the time. Two weeks later I became the owner of a new 2011 Shelby GT-500 for 3K off the sticker. When I posted the above message back in September I had no plans at the time to buy a GT-500.... and yes they are awsome cars.

Re: 2012 Boss 302

Why does the new Boss show 380ftlbs of torque and the GT shows 390ftlbs? Do they lose tq with the side exhaust setup on the Boss?

The engine is tuned to make power higher up in the RPM band, which is characteristic of what is needed for a road course car.

Re: 2012 Boss 302

Here we go again. Currently, there is a GT500 convetable and a coupe sitting at one dealership. The coupe has been there since June. Another sits at a Ford dealership that I'm going to look at tomorrow. That one has been there for over a month.

I like the Boss 302 but I will never pay over MRSP. What I do like? At least we can build a GT the way we like it.

I'm not looking to own a Track car or road course car. I was able to get an 03 MACH1 under MRSP back in 2003. I was patient and found a dealer interested in taking care of the customers.

Yeah, but you'd think the ADM would be listed since it's going to be there anyway.

Falcongtho3, I can't even imagine how stupid this is going to get! I have said it many times on this site, " I wish Ford would just let the market decide how many to build". A car like that and at that price it won't be for everyone just like back in the day, so just build it.

I'm with you. It's not like they built tens of thousands of them back then, and there's no reason to limit them now. They built as many as were ordered. If the desire is there to built 50,000, then do it. Why not sell every one you can. It's what ended up happening with the Machs.

Thats not too bad ... but what is is that you will never see one for that price with Dealer markups. I still say anyone will be lucky to take one home under $50,000. I know I wont in this area... they will add 5 grand on just doing the PDI !

Re: 2012 Boss 302

I just watched a one hour special of the 2012 Boss 302 on Speed. As a Mustang fanatic I really enjoyed it, what I thought was cool was when they were in their design studio they were showing different views of a Green Boss with the 1970 striping. I hope that will be the 2013 version, not that I could even think about buying that too. Hope alot of you got to see this.
