Unethical autoart bash

I am very disgusted with a recent eBay/PayPal transaction, but more the buyer. I sold an AB autoart Mach 1 on eBay, shipped it tightly in a package, and it arrived to the buyer with the wing and mirror loose. I understand this happens. Many of my other models have arrived to me with prices shaken loose. So the buyer demands a refund. I explained that the terms were "no returns accepted" and the model was not a total loss. So what does he do? Completely destroyes the product, opens a claim with PayPal, claims the box was smashed and the model was destroyed when he got it, and forces a return. It shows up to me in pieces. Funny both the shipping box and the model's box were perfect. The car had the screws removed by a screw driver and then the model was pulled apart and smashed. As soon as PayPal saw the model was returned, the money was taken From my account without any recourse or chance for me to see what had happened. I tried to appeal and its a done deal.
I contact him and he says its my fault that I wouldn't accept a return and hopes I learned a lesson. I don't know how people live with themselves after doing this. How can they be so unethical?

Too bad it's not Torch Red. You could send it to the guy that wants to part out his 1,600 mile real Mach.

I'm almost certain he showed Paypal a picture of it after he smashed it up, so they will only think I am retaliating. I appealed and explained what the condition of the model was when it returned and all they said to the appeal was that the buyer had offered sufficient evidence that it had been destroyed (even though he straight out told me it was just a wing and a few screws). I submitted pictures of the box not damaged since he lied and said it was crushed. We'll see.

Re: Unethical autoart bash

I had mine show up and the tail pipe fell off in transit - just glued it back on. These models are fragile anyway. But what happened here to you is total BS! The more I've done internet buying, the more I've been scammed. I ordered a timing belt kit for one of my other cars from a company stating it was OEM and it wasn't. I had the dealer install the kit, and one of the oil seals was the wrong size - leaked like crazy. Wasn't the dealers fault - I called the seller back and he said it was OEM, not his problem. You have to be super careful, whether you buy (or sell) online these days!

Re: Unethical autoart bash

Did you call paypal or doing it thru emails or the complaint process? Get them on the phone if you havent.

Its BS though, and as rare as those cars are to destroy it.

I was on hold for over an hour and the call failed. I swear its an endless loop to make people go away.
The only good aspect is this car will not end up damaged out and go in the trash. I'll fix it.
To make things worse, he even talked me down $30 before all this. Don't do favors for people I guess. The buyer told me he had several models he was returning for the same reason. It looks like he sifts though everything he buys and screws people over if it shows up with the slightest thing wrong with it. Donkpm is his user name. Beware of him.

Re: Unethical autoart bash

You said, he told you it was wiggly first. Was that in an e-mail or by phone? If it was by email, then send it to paypal. That cotradicts his later destructive evidence. End/story if so.

If by phone, well, rate him horribly as a buyer at least.

I took a screen shot of the message he sent and added photos of the box in perfect condition which goes entirely against his claim to paypal that it was smashed. I'll see if PayPal does anything about it. I get the feeling they want to satisfy the buyer more than the seller.

Re: Unethical autoart bash

This is truly sad what people will do, how wrong was that person and like others have said I've gotten loose stuff on diecast, I've order so many off ebay and have always been pretty lucky but I understand stuff happens and if its not anything crazy than I just don't worry about it, cuz that is how I would hope a buyer would be towards me. I'm so sorry for what happen to you, truly sad, but they will get thiers some where down the road.
Hope this gets taken care of for you. I'm dealing with a buyer on a $8 fog light yellow overlays, on getting them here, been almost 3 weeks, I open a case after I contacted the buyer and heard nothing back after a couple days, I truly just wanted the product, but if it wasn't going to happen just wanted a refund. after case was open he sent me the updated shipping info, some reason I believe he took his sweet time sending it out. yes it was only $8 bucks, but I expect service the same over $1 to $1,000 and etc. all people need treated fair
ok now I'm on the soap box. again sorry for what happen to you. hope it gets worked out

Re: Unethical autoart bash

I've just been fresh out of luck lately. I ordered a new LED brake light for my Cobra (since they are known to crack or burn out) and a 99-04 GT brake light shows up... The company was great about giving me a return label and sent the correct product...but this time it showed up as a scratched brake light (not new with the protective tape) and dirt in the screw holes. Obviously, someone bought a new one then returned their old one. The company was upset and said they don't sell any used parts, but will accept a return.. Now I'm hoping that goes smoothly.

Re: Unethical autoart bash

Ouch
That sucks.....hard to believe a Mustang collector would do that to a AutoArt Blue Mach.
Hopefully you can restore it back to new condition
