My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
I've had the car since HS, parked it and let her sit. Knowing one day it would be worth more money running than sold for cheap with a wore out soft seat head motor.
17 years later finally financially ready, time aloted and cars worth more than crap the time came.i sold the Evo for a small profit and started to buy parts. New interior, new gas tank , front and rear suspension and the drivetrain. Everything new. Ran top proline heads that livornois cnc'd, a comp retro roller can, the kitchen sink was tossed at this thing for a goal of around 400hp daily driver , should have more that hopefully

Re: My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
Thanks. It's been a nightmare of a restoration.
Machinist passed away during motor build, then Harvey flooded us and the car , just on the floorboards. Drivetrain was in the lightning luckily , had to redo the carpet. Seats stayed dried. Literally after this posting changed oil and yup... Started Bendix stuck. So gotta change that out. New AutoZone started had the original rebuilt from getting flooded. So I've got a spare to use.

Re: My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
Runs well. Haven't gotten into it too hard, it's got a 770 but stiff spring on the secondarys to keep from going into the back 2 barrels. Has about 100 miles on new transmission is why I'm taking it relatively nice on her.
Once its got a tad over 100 miles it's oil change, spring change and see what she does. Crossing fingers. Has a 3.25 gear as of right now, top end will be fun going to a 3.50 leaning towards 3.7 too. Rear end is original and will be redone by the end of the month.

Re: My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
I sold my 1970 Cougar Eliminator because it was a old car and bought my Mach 1. Still would like to get another Cougar one day. But I like a/c, anti locking breaks, cruse control. One thing I did notice that when I drive my Mach 1 it sounds the same inside and the seats feel the same.

Re: My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
I agree on the classic feel to the mach1 compared to alot of the new cars on the market. Thought the steering a brakes are light years ahead in the mach. The cougars downright scary at 70mph from the steering the drum rear brakes .

Re: My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
That's the main reason I sold my cougar was it seemed like every time I drove the cougar someone pulled out in front of me. At one point I thought that since the grill was painted all black the other motorist did not see the car even though it was yellow. To this day I don't know why so many people kept pulling in front of me.

My wife’s theory about that kinda crap is that they know you’ll stop because of how nice your car is. I’m beginning to believe her lol. IG: @ab_mach1

Re: My latest fiasco... 69 cougar
My bud Jake wants to race the mach1 vs the cougar once it's all broken in. Very tempting....
