I think I'm alergic to hops in beer. FML - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

Anyone else have this issue? My brother is 3 years older than me and complained of it before I noticed. I find the hoppier the beer, the worse it is. My fiance and I went to Bell's brewery today... awesome kalamazoo michigan beer!!! Oberon is their most popular....and I'm paying for it with a sore throat and acid reflux right now. Last time I had a bunch I paid for it with heavy acid reflux that night. Now Corona, for example, I'm good to go. Out of all the things to be alergic to...

Check your local U-brew and see if they can set you up with something with less hops that agrees with your taste buds and gut.

I have the exact same problem, it doesn't really matter what beer I drink. Mainly it is the quantity, if I have one or two I'm fine. However if I drink like six or more, I'm sick as a dog the next morning. My brain is numb, I don't want to get out of bed, loss of appetite etc.

Seriously, I never have reactions like that but draught beer gives me hella hangovers.

Try a weissbier like Franziskaner, or Blue Moon. In a wheat beer most or all the hops are replaced with wheat.

wow i have the same problem after about 20 beers. i just dont under stand. im doing my best to build up a tollerance to the stuff. lol

I actually did some research and found that I think it's actually an allergic reaction to active yeast, which a lot of microbreweries use as part of the fermenation process I believe. They want the full taste and let more whole product through. I will post the link if I can find it again. Very interesting stuff tho. But, it saddens me that I found my favorite brewery at the same time I found I'm alergic to it.
