hood scoop paint color

I’m getting my car re painted and I had stupidly painted the shaker a few years back with gloss black spray paint 🤮. I’m trying to get the color as close as I can back to stock...what color is that??

Re: hood scoop paint color

Mine is sorta faded atm. Getting ready to re-paint most of the exterior plastic and re-paint the hood as the flat black in the middle is faded as well. I'm pulling the shaker off and having it powdercoated satin black. Is that exact, probably not but I deal with paint for a living and black is pretty much black.

Re: hood scoop paint color

I would say it is a flat black....going with the flat theme around the car that we all seem to use armor all on to make shiny

It is textured, so that automatically gives it a flat look....I keep meaning to look at mine closer, I was assuming it was flat black powder coated. I didn't think mine would ever get "back to black" but it did by just giving it love over and over with washing and treatment....I just degreased it for the "cobra jet" stickers and its still a lot blacker than it was before I showed it attention.

That's my answer until someone makes me look stupid
Flat Black

Semi Gloss was a close 2nd...but not gloss

Re: hood scoop paint color

spray paint looks ok but if you're going through the time and expense of painting the car I'd have the shaker re-done by a powdercoat shop in satin black wrinkle finish

Re: hood scoop paint color

Repainted with Rustoleum satin black 14 years ago and still looks great.
