shimming pinion gear made easier!
I know a lot of people have taken their cars to the shop to have their gears put in. frankly I always thought the pinion gear was the hardest to set. but I found out late model resotoration makes a pinion gear tool so I will include a link for anyone interested in tackling the job. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...h-Setting-Tool

Re: shimming pinion gear made easier!
I purchased that tool but never had the chance to use it; ultimately I let HPP setup my gears but the tool made a lot of sense and just in case I ever do another gear change I will have it. Until this thread, I completely forgot I even had it. (yes, I am a sucker for buying cool tools)

Re: shimming pinion gear made easier!
I had a dude using that tool and each time he got a different measurement, if you press to hard it will flex and give false reading (at least that was HIS explanation)

Re: shimming pinion gear made easier!
I'm not a fan. Doesn't work well with differences in manufacturers.
